re: What's The Worst Super Bowl Ever (Excluding SB VII and SB XVIII)
At least with the blowout games of the 80's and early 90's you got the impression you were watching historically great teams do their thing, e.g. the 49ers and Bears, which made it easier to deal with lopsided scores. It was almost like watching Hulk Hogan or Macho Man pummel some scrub on Saturday morning's WWF Superstars, in that given that you knew the outcome was predetermined, you could get behind the blowout.
For pure snooze factor I go Broncos/Falcons or Steelers/Seahawks; historically pretty good but not great teams doing just enough to win against bumbling opponents. Yawn. |

Bears over the Pats and the 49ers over the Chargers.
There is nothing worse than a total blowout in the SB, especially when you see it coming from a mile away. |

Superbowl XXV Giants vs Bills. It may have been close, but that was the ugliest game in tems of scoring that I had ever seen at that point in my life. It was a pain to watch.

re: What's The Worst Super Bowl Ever (Excluding SB VII and SB XVIII)
The worst Super Bowls to me are the ones that you know are going to be a blowout for the whole two weeks leading up to the game and then unfold exactly as expected. Bears over the Pats and the 49ers over the Chargers imediately come to mind. There are other super bowls where you at least thought there was a chance for a good game and were mildly surprised at the blowout...but these two games offered no intrigue or excitement.

Giants vs Ravens. Lop sided and extremely boring. Unless you were a fan of either team the game wasn't really worth watching past the first half

Super Bowl XL between Seattle and Pittsburgh. That game was so boring and it was two teams that I couldn't care less about. I barely even watched that game.

The worst Superbowl ever for me are any of the ones that the Cowboys won.

Steelers Cardinals for sure. I swear the Steelers had the refs in their back pocket. The only big time call the Cardinals got was a personal foul worth about half a yard after a punt. If I was a Cardinal fan, I would be livid.

even with the "refs in their back pocket". Had the Cards run from first and goal instead of pass they're SB champs. They forgot who they were playing. But that Football. Congrats to the Steel.

These qualify:
XIX 49ers / Dolphins XX Bears / Patsies XXIV 49ers / Broncos XXVII Cowboys / Bills XXIX 49ers / Chargers XXXV Ravens / Giants XL Steelers / Seahawks (just plain boring to watch) XXIV and XXVII were probably the worst.

Awful, just awful, my three-peat visions crushed. But I'll tell you what...I'd take Black Sunday all over again if it meant TWO seasons going to BACK TO BACK Super Bowl. Man, we were the s*it. Last edited by SkinDogg; 02-03-2009 at 10:04 PM. |

re: What's The Worst Super Bowl Ever (Excluding SB VII and SB XVIII)
I'm only 23, so I pretty much start actually remembering Super Bowls with the Cowboys wins over Buffalo...but the one Super Bowl I just remember not giving two craps about going in and despite the close game for the most part, having no interest in was Pittsburgh/Seattle... I dont know why. In terms of straight play, I'll go with Ravens/Giants, because the Giants couldnt do a damn thing against Baltimore.
