according to their fan site, they have about $14million cap space. Now i doubt their experts are as good as ours but if you use that ballpark, I would think they have enough flexibility if they want it.

Re: Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams

Roy Williams is a true strong safety, which is almost like a dying breed in today's nfl. People always said he was weak in coverage, but I always felt like he was weak in deep coverage.

A lot of TEs burned him too, but if you let him play the flats the way strong safeties used to play, he was good at hitting recievers across the middle & shutting down screens and dump offs. He just couldnt' cover man to man, and strong safeties these days are expected to do that at times due to the number of wr's and pass catching te's there are.

As for him playing here, we're stacked at safety & I can't see him bulking up enough to be a true LB. Maybe some team will sign him to use him as a nickel OLB & run stopping safety. He's not getting big $ anywhere, that's for sure.

I think the Giants will get him. They don't have enough safties and d-linemen yet.

This is good for the Cowpukes and bad for all the NFC East as w/o Roy back there policing the middle of the field, the gaping holes won't be very big any longer :-).

Old Roy. poor man lost a step. Gonna miss all the "horse collar" tackels.

Roy is a jaw breaker against the run and in goalline defense but I don't see how he would fit in here. We need a big linebacker not another safety.

It could be fun watching Dallas this year.

Glad we won't have to play the dirtiest player in the NFL twice a year now, unless Philly gets him to (try to) replace Dawkins.

Why would Philly sign Roy (zero coverage skills) and release Dawkins (declining coverage skills)?

Why does Philly make a lot of their moves?

Why do they appear to be wanting Kevin Kolb to lead their team into the future?

Philly is fairly predictable. They consistently build through the draft, they rarely overpay (Kearse is an example but he was a monster when they signed him, injuries took their toll), and they release anyone who begins to decline (especially if the player commands a big contract ie. Dawkins). They would always prefer to let a guy go a year early instead of having them one year too long.

well put, except I would say Samuel was really the exception to the rule for them.

Springs was just visiting there, so I guess they're not opposed to signing an old vet, but I would think only for a year.

True, but they've been one good WR away from winning it all, and while multiple playoff appearances are nice, they never took a risk and went after a #1 receiver to get them over the edge. Besides, if you don't call what we did last year (and what we can potentially do this year) building through the draft, I don't know what is.

I think they overpaid for A. Samuels too, especially since they had Lito Shepard and Sheldon Brown in the DB. Once again, they could've gone after that #1 receiver.

I think Dawkins is the only player that may fit in this category. Someone mentioned in a thread a few weeks ago that the Redskins hold on to players and don't let them go. Well the Eagles have held on McNabb for too long. He's a good player but he's also a diva and a bit of a prick. Every year many I wonder why the Eagles don't get good value out of him. Let's not forget that save for last year, McNabb has been a bit injury ridden.

Now can we give the compliment-orgy of other NFC East teams' FO for a bit? I know our FO is not the best, but don't rub it in, ok?

Very predictable indeed, they will never win a Super Bowl.

Id put it at 95% thats exactly what happens. Springs has probably wanted to play in Dallas his whole life.
