Re: Pro Day
What about film of him actually playing in games? What if we judge him on that?

Re: Pro Day
Nope, you're judged on whether you show up to the combine where you don't plan to work out.

Re: Pro Day
I understand that a player should be judged on how they play on the field, but come on, the combine IS a pretty big deal in a players process of being drafted into the NFL. We're talking about gaining or losing, MILLIONS of dollars. You can't get motivated for that? What else are you not going to take that seriously? There are a lot of judgements to be made for a young man after gaining millions of dollars. One would hope that his decision making improves in the future, and it may, then again, this could be a sign of trouble.

Re: Pro Day
So he's a kid in his early 20's who made a mistake, albeit a big one, and he's "slacked off" in preparation for an opportunity only a fraction of 1% gets! This is what happens when you mix immaturity and talent into million dollar decisions! We have a vetteran officeive line that wont let an immature kid dick around...draft him...if he falls to the thrid! If we trade back and acquire a second rd'r then snatch him with either the either of the first two picks. Timing of drafting him will depend if there's a run on tackles in the first! Then lets pick an inpact LB or DE with the second and third, assuming we are able to trade back!

Re: Pro Day
as a rule i agree. but this was this kids big show, and he was really out of shape. the workout was like a job interview. would you show up for an interview in jeans, with P.B.R on your breath? we are talking about a big time investment here, worth millions. and he didnt see it as being that important

Re: Pro Day
He said he looks up to Chris Samuels. Bring him in and let our vets tutor him. Samuels won't let him be lazy. Look at Heyer, not to say he was lazy, but he was a frumpy looking fat dude his rookie year. Last year, he still looked odd, but was alot more in shape.

Re: Pro Day
SS did you ever find out if the skins were at OU's pro day? I don't see why they wouldn't, OU has lots of prospects to choose from

Re: Pro Day
Smith is definitely raising questions about his viability as a top 10, or even, our pick at 13. But let's not get carried away about how fat he looks. If anything, what that says to me is that he's not very aware of how most everybody doesn't want to see his fat jiggling, but it doesn't mean he can't play LT!

Re: Pro Day
Just be careful with putting too much stock in great workout warriors because that's what you'll get. A player that loves to workout more than he loves to work and play. We don't want a bodybuilder, weightlifter, or track star - so don't look for one.
Most players become busts because they were chosen mainly based on stats, workout measurables, and physical attributes (and on a few great moments). And not mainly on how they played. Most recently for the redskins, Adam Archuletta. Last edited by warriorzpath; 03-12-2009 at 07:01 PM. |
