Just don't point this out to him, because then he'll turn into Freddie Roman: "I'm just a comedian. Take my wife, please". It's guerilla tactics. He's read his Mao.

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
It's not guerrilla tactics 70. There is nothing deceiving about what Jon does. He makes it clear, upfront and obvious. He knows its a cheap show, that takes cheap shots at people when things go wrong.
That is the show's role and it never went out of the way to say it is a legit news source. CNBC, however, portrays its coverage as accurate, especially Cramer's show, and people take it seriously. To me that is bad and clearly a violation of ethics.

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
im trying to figure out how 70 tied Obama into this. anyway, i think people forget that Stewart is a comedian, and entertainer. while he does do his homework, he is still around because he makes people laugh. and Cramer did the same thing most so called experts did. went along with the financial tide of success. the one thing this economy should have taught everyone is that even the experts don't know everything

If you watch the interview, politics isn't even an issue having any relevance to the discussion. this is about dishonest scumbags getting rich over the last 10 years off of your's and your parent's 401ks and retirement and now being called to task. This has nothing to do with Obama at all but yet somehow he enters into the discussion. Baffling. Just baffling.

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
I love how 70Chip just deflects good points. I've seen Stewart dog Obama before on his show. It's political satire, and honestly -- it's great. Stewart/Colbert are shows that get young people interested in politics. Using comedy to show the issues around the world is a great model. Can you get all your news from them, no. But you can be informed about what's going on in the world through watching them.
Yes, Stewart and Colbert lean liberal -- that's their personal stance. But just like any sane person, they see the faults in their own party and still joke about it. Stewart makes good points against Kramer. I don't understand the Obama bashing myself. There have been some questionable moves thus far, but we should wait to see if they change anything. He's inherited one of the largest messes in the short history of the US. Hopefully he can navigate us through it.

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
Let's not confuse WHAT Stewart said with WHY he said it. The timing is important. Cramer's criticism of Obama hit the papers last Tuesday, March 3. Stewart did his takedown of Cramer and CNBC on Wednesday March 4. I don't think anyone can claim that the first did not cause the second. If Cramer doesn't criticize Obama, or if he does and it doesn't make headlines, Jon Stewart would have kept his outrage to himself - as he had largely managed to do for so many years.
At any rate, the White House is quite pleased with what Stewart hath wrought: "White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said he and President Obama spoke yesterday about the fact that CNBC's Jim Cramer was set to appear on "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart last night. He wasn't sure if the president caught Mr. Stewart's bloodletting of the host of "Mad Money," but he himself gave the show a thumbs up. "I enjoyed it thoroughly," Gibbs said at his daily briefing." I saw most of it. What did I miss that completely invalidates my argument?

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
The correlation is in the timing. The takedown happened last Wednesday, the day after there were headlines that said, words to the effect, "CNBC Host Cramer Criticizes Obama". As I said before, everything Stewart said is probably true, but he would not have said it if Cramer had not criticized Obama. Plus I think Stewart's "anger" is so much bullshit. He's so concerned about the little people. He's a man of the people. But again, why am I criticizing him, he's just a comedian.
Why Cramer decided to bend over and take it I have no idea. Show a little dignity, man. It's pretty uncomfortable to see anybody just give in like that. It's like the Stalinest show trials where the prisoner knows no matter what he says or how well he defends himself, the story ends with a bullet in the back of his head, so he just wants to hurry up and get it over with. "Yes, Comrade I have committed crimes against the people." "Yes, Comrade I was carrying out the orders of my imperialist bosses" "Yes Comrade... Yes Comrade... Yes Comrade..." I should say that my hatred of Stewart was cemented when he had Jonah Goldberg on his show, couldn't get any zingers in because his writers were on strike at the time and because he hadn't read the book, dragged the interview out for eighteen minutes trying to make Jonah look bad, edited the tape down to six minutes to make himself look better, and then lied and said that the edits were done because of profanity, even though the edited version is laced with profanity. It's heads he wins tails you lose on The Daily Show.

Re: Jon Stewart Wins Cramer Showdown
Wow 70, these are awful conspiratorial type posts devoid of any reality. You're digging a stupid hole to China man, not cool. Perhaps your hatred of him clouds your judgment?
Seems obvious you don't care much for reality, for those who do this is what went down: 1. Stewart has a past going after the media, way before anyone knew or gave a damn about Obama. 2. Stewart has gone after CNBC before Obama ran for any national level office. 3. Stewart's takedowns of CNBC started because of Rick Losers. 4. Cramer put himself out there by saying he was taken out of context by Stewart. 5. Cramer yapped again and got nailed again. 6. Finally, Stewart nailed him once more in the interview.
