re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
This season will have nothing to do with the Cutler trade. Campbell is motivated because he's up for a new contract, so he needs to prove (to the Redskins or to the open market) that he's worth it. Zorn feels pressure because he coaches for Dan Snyder, and if he doesn't show progress after two years then he'll get the heave-ho in all likelihood, especially with guys like Cowher and Shanahan on the market in 2010.
Zorn and Campbell were already motivated and feeling the pressure going into this campaign, and they're united by a common goal, they both need to succeed for their own well-being. Cutler has nothing to do with it.

Douche? I have heard most of all that here from people on this site are they douches also? Not sure why people get so bent over when they read in the press the same stuff they read here almost everyday from the fans. To say the media loves to bash the Skins I was no hearing that when we where winning last year and the media just prints what the skins give them.

I say there's a 51% chance that Campbell is not here at the start of this season

There's a 100% chance you are wrong.

Lol who does he think will be the starting qb, certainly not Collins or Cult because he is to raw right now maybe next year for him. Besides if there was a chance they were leaning that way they would have cut Jason or traded him a long time ago. IMO i think we should wait and see what Jason does this year then if he bombs then put colt in there. I am sure there is a 80% chance lol that will happen. |

Campbell had a 2-part interview on Comcast Sportsnite the last 2 days. He is definitely saying the "right" things, but his refusal to answer certain types of questions involving the FO, and his long-term status, seemed to make it clear that he was really hurt by it.

Maybe his agent has advised him not to say too much about being w/the Skins long-term, sending a message that he's shopping his client. I recall that the day the news broke Campbell said he wanted to be in DC. So, like you said, maybe he's hurt by it & is looking forward to getting out, and/or his agent is just telling him not to speak about anything beyond this year. One thing that weighs in the Skins favor, Denver chose Orton over him. That's also part of how they were once again saved by another team. Last year it was Cincy, this year the Bears. |

The fact that Denver turned down our offer because they didn't like Campbell and Orton was the deal breaker says a little something. I think skins fans may over value Campbell a bit. He's a serviceable starter.

I like how people keep mentioning this, yet they forget that McDaniels turned down Cutler for Matt Cassell and (eventually) Kyle Orton.

But man won't that be something come negotiating time (if it gets to that) "What do you mean you want to get paid X amount? No one wanted you last year. Did you forget that?" "Yeah well you traded like a bajillion first rounders to get me, didn't you"

re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I didn't see one sentence in the article that stretched the truth or was even that negative towards Snyder. I think it is spot on.
I am more worried about someone who reads an unbiased account of a potentially disasterous trade and criticizes the author. This team has not won a single division under Snyder's impatient watch and he proved this offseason that he learned nothing while Gibbs was here. Thank God that we didn't make that trade. It is the best thing that happened to us in the offseason. |
