But where did that offense get the Lions?

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
Johno, like Smoot said, not a bad thread at all.
Another reason we need O line help; Zorn is the head coach & playcaller. In order to get his system running & gain the respect of the team (& the danny), he needs the personel. Right now our RT spot is so weak! I don't know if Heyer or Jansen could even make the rosters of half the nfl teams, much less start. Hopefully both of those guys come to camp much improved, but I don't expect either to be starting. I think a decent rookie can win that job right off the bat & improve the line. |

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
I've said this before and I'll say it again, the steelers won the SB this year with the best defense and a mediocre offense (ironically it was their offense though that won them the SB not really defense) and ben was One of the most sacked QBs in the league, his OL was worse than ours IMO, but the steelers defense could pressure and was number 1 same thing with the ravens superbowl squad, all D no offense...so what am I saying..well juding by these two teams we should get a DE or OLB I saw either maualuga Matthews Robert ayers or Tyson Jackson or larry English ...we can fix the OL in the later rounds maybe with a Jason watkins of Florida or a loadholt or a gerald cadgoan of Penn state plus their are some OTs that are good who could be released in training camp preseason etc.

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
Per the thread idea...good one.
Since the final game in SF I've thought we would add legit OT talent no matter what (unless Vinny is really incompetent). Try thinking of it this way: we have 3 OTs on the roster, one is very good when healthy but aging and recovering from injury, one is older and very questionable to play through a season, and the third is very young, totally raw and somehow injury prone even in his youth. IMHO it would be the height of irresponsibility to go into this season w/ the current crop of OT talent. However it doesn't mean we have to draft one necessarily...I think the FO has been wise to stay stingy since the big signings cuz post-draft we'll see some nice talent on the market i think. Anyway, per the draft I'd like to see us throw caution to the wind a bit and go w/ BPA, though I don't know what the hell that means for Vinny. I mean we could end up w/ a player who wouldn't otherwise have been drafted for another 2 rounds as was the case w/ Rinehart LOL. ...Sidbury @ 13

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
For anyone who thinks that we'll take Oher at 13th, wake up. It will never happen. We are going DEF in the 1st round unless Andre Smith falls to us!

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
Whether they planned it or not - snyder and cerrato's success will be linked directly to Haynesworth's success because of all the attention that it grabbed.
I think the only thing that trumps this would be - an offense that lights it up next season. |

Re: Redskins Defensive Oriented Draft
Being ranked a top 5 defense last year points to improving the offense. The question is how did the team rank as far as sacks allowed? We know Campbell only threw 12TDs vs 6INTs in a newly installed passing offense. Dropped balls? Playcalling? All of these have to be considered. We may be chasing our own tail drafting an OL and not improving/replacing someone else on the same side of the ball. This is where many thought Cutler (and Leftwich) potentially would've made that difference. And possibly why Kiper thinks Sanchez at #13 makes sense too. Something is telling me we'll draft another WR this year...
