Wow I'm shocked? The richest conservative state in the country isn't happy that their oil buddies aren't running the show in Washington anymore(the same people who put us in this mess) and now they are threatening to secede when they don't like how the new government is trying to fix this awful mess. Good luck with that Texas.

There's a lot more to this than taxes.. and a lot of states are at least semi-on board .. I don't see any attempts at seceding coming up anytime soon, but the fed needs to realize that they were created by the states and not the other way around. Forcing states to change laws vs not receiving fed money is bullying, especially when the money is coming FROM the states and their citizens

Secession was feasible during the Civil War era when everyone had muskets that could fire an unaccurate bullet once every 4 and half minutes. To think of a state seceding from a country that has one of the most advanced military forces on earth is laughable.

Imagine the magnitude of military might could be wrought upon the lone star state by the federal government if they chose to sucede.

In addition, mere talk of suceding by any state or government official should be grounds for dismissal from office and they should be subject to imprisonment.

If you can go to jail for not paying your taxes and impeached for an oval office BJ, imagine what would happen to you if headed a sucession from one of the most powerful nations on earth?
