Re: Fear of flying suggestions
Here is a site that deals with your issue. Overcome your fear of flying.
Maybe it would help if you just went to an airport and hung out some to get use to the waiting around and seeing all the planes taking off and landing. |

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
Nothing is safer than flying on a plane. As someone who has worked for Boeing I can tell you with 100% certainty that plane manufactures know what they're doing and are under the strictest scrutiny of any industry. It takes roughly a month to build one airplane because they check, double check, triple check everything. They train and help train (through certified training partners) every mechanic that works on their planes and every pilot that flies their planes. When you're in the business of Airplane manufacturing you can't cut corners and that something airplane manufactures simply don't do. It's very bad for business. Boeing produce ~36 planes a month and has ~27K machinists. That's ~750 machinist per plane spending ~180K man hours on building a single plane. That's a staggering number by any measure so rest assure you're plane is not likely to crash with you on it.

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
Get there early and booze it up hardcore in the terminal. After that, get drinks all the way over on the flight. I'm a little anxious when it comes to flying, so this helps a lot. I know it sounds silly, but it honestly helps.

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
Dang Frost.............sorry to hear about all that. If you want my advice the first thing is get rid of Kaiser! They don't know what they are doing. They don't ever treat what you got. If they try to treat it they fail. They just want you to leave their office just as fast as you arrived. Get rid of them! Trust me!
Second, boozing it up before a flight is a good idea! It will settle your nerves down a little bit. But, keep in mind that you might get cut off before you have a chance to get drunk enough. That happened to me that one time and it sucked! I would suggest having a $20 bill set aside so you can easily "tip" another bar tender, or waitress. They almost always accept tips; so don't worry!

Like I SAID, you have to STAY drunk. I wasn't suggesting ever getting sober.

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
I think the only good advice is to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist. Sometimes it takes more than alcohol or medicine to fix an anxiety like that. Don't feel embarrassed though, it's a legit fear.

I've never been a huge fan myself, I once went about 20 years in between flying. Not because I was avoiding it, I just had no need to travel. Then about 10 years ago the wife and I started traveling and I had to get back on a plane. I admit I was very nervous to fly again, but it's one of those things the more you do it, the easier it gets. Frost, I definitely think the best advice is to see a professional. They can help you get to the root of your problems and help you overcome it. |

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
If you dont think you would need to fly again for a long time, i would look into alternative travel then. You might lose some days, but you will at least get there. Can work on your fear after, cuz if you dont get over flying then you will never get to visit family. I've flown overseas quite a bit and the only part i enjoy is getting off the plane and seeing who is waiting for me.

Re: Fear of flying suggestions
You might need therapy. Mainly because you'll probably make the most progress if you get one on one help.
