I thought for a long time that Davis fumbled a lot, but actually he has a very low carry-fumble ratio.....one of the lowest in the league. Surprising huh? I guess it's just because he gets so many touches.

I think the more agonizing aspect of Davis' fumbles was the timing of his fumbles. Diving over the goal line against Arizona, while running out the clock against the Cowboys, among other heartbreakers

Another great post, Crisp.
And it's not impossible that Betts will have a nice year spelling Portis. Plus we have Rock and Morton, so we can take the heat off Portis at times. And he's oh so young. Also, having break-away big-play speed keeps defenses worried. On any given play, Portis can take it to the house. I'd love to see us run some screens and dumpoffs for him in the passing game as well. Get him in the open field! With Gibbs, Bugel and Zampesi crafting the plays, this should be a fun year, once everything gets clicking.

Clinton Portis: by far the best RB in the NFC East, maybe even the entire NFC (apologies to Ahman Green).

I think portis is definitely the best in the NFC east but I'm not so sure yet about the entire NFC. I mean Ahman Green has been a monster for atleast 3 or 4 years hasn't he and until Portis catches the ball as much as him with the same productivity I don't know if I can put Portis up there, but I can't wait to see what he does in a skins uniform next year especially against the division.
p.s.(duece mccallister ain't too bad of a running back either) |

200 Yds & 3 TDs against Dallas will make him the best RB in the NFC in my book. Stephen who...?

There are plenty of backs that fumble a lot more than Davis, and it did seem that Davis would cough it up at the worst time (but is there ever a good time for a fumble?). |

i look for CP to have a long career as a redskin, but it scares the shit out of me that we are 1 hit away from disaster at the rb position.i would feel better if we had a more experienced backup than betts or cartright.

I am happy with Rock and Betts backing up right now....you can't have a pro bowler backing up each position. If Portis needs a game off, I would have no problem handing the rock to The Rock

what if portis got injured in the first quarter of a game the skins needed to win to get in the playoffs?i would feel a whole lot better if antwoian smith or even terry allen were signed as a backup.i know they can play in the clutch.

If there wasn't a salary cap, I'd agree with you, but don't you think we need more help elsewhere than back up RB

Betts is alright. He hasn't had much of a chance to show what he can do. He's been hurt most of the time, which doesn't reflect on his abilities.
