You're getting so good at this, that I'm just going to nibble on scraps from now on. But seriously, reading this before going to the tape opens up a whole new world of things that I probably would have missed before. This is an invaluable resource.

And good comments 30gut.

Good Info Slinging Sammy 33

Well Zorn has said that they will move Heyer (LT) Williams (RT) and Rhinehart or Monty(RG). I thought Zorn or Vinny said Rhinehart had a shoulder injury that's why Williams played RG. Whats the truth on that Sammy if you know? As far as Mike Williams lets give him a shot we dont have many options at this point so Im pulling for the Big Guy.

Just a thought , what about running some no-huddle , let JC call some plays , or have the ability to change the play at the line of scrimmage < shotgun or under center > ??

Here's my summary: Samuels goes down and the entire offense crumbles.

As for Heyer, I can't believe anyone is talking about him as the future of anything. Dude is garbage. Honestly, JC is going to get killed unless Heyer gets some serious help on his side. There's no way I would trust Heyer on his own.

Re: Slingin Sammy 33s - Panthers Game Review

What's the deal with all of the single option/look passes? Does Zorn really not trust Campbell to make a decision quickly? Seems like he does better with that (2 min drills, no huddle, etc). You've got receivers running routes that are never in the plans to get thrown to, only to not 100% give the D knowledge of who's getting the ball.. but every cornerback, safety, LB, and especially defensive staff knows that. If we're going to do that why not run route fakes, pumps, start with an opposite look and then come back to the guy the ball is played for, something?

My apologies if this has been covered, will read replies now

Good points.

This week the OL was definitely a problem. But Zorn's playcalling is baffling. Zorn comes from the Walsh/Holmgren tree you would think he would be scripting his first 15 plays, it sure doesn't seem that way.

Quote:
Imo JC has been playing well i think he's found his comfort on the deep ball.
The one to DT was excellent, however Weeks 2-4 he made some serious mistakes with his deep passing.

Quote:
He's getting the ball out at the top of his drop more then last year, and he's been more accurate, he going through his progressions and has a quicker release.
I agree, if his pre-read to the primary receiver is correct and he's open. However, it appears to me if the primary isn't open he struggles coming off the primary and progressing to the secondary receivers

Quote:
Maybe DBs are like RBs empty pockets+heavy heart=production
Maybe Blache should start imposing fines for softness and Hall's pockets would be lighter in a hurry. LOL

Quote:
Zorn's playcalling overall is puzzling, his playcalling tendencies are opposite to this teams strengths, opposite to the WCO and opposite to Zorn's own playcalling history. Last season Zorn passed early and often even on 1st down, used 3 and 4 wide receivers sets and used the shotgun even on 1st down.
Now, despite that our passing game is more effective then our running game the playcalling has become more run focused?

(I have a detailed look i can post that compares the last years Dallas game to this years Rams with a focus on 1st down playcalling. I can post it if anyone wants to see it, but the sum was that Zorn was pass heavy early and finished balanced now he's balanced and borderline run favored early)
Dallas: Out of the 1st 12 1st downs 10 were passes.
Rams: Of the 1st 12 1st downs 6 were runs.
Great point.

Quote:
Yes please!
Put the game in JC hands put him in shotgun and pass early and often.
This is critical. As a franchise we must get a clear evaluation on JC now. Is JC the 6-2 guy from early 2008 or is he the guy from Weeks 3-4 2009? My feeling is that he's the guy from weeks 3-4, but we need to see more to be sure.

The run by Jake was sickening. Hall's effort wouldn't have cut it even in a Pee Wee league.

Thanks for the kind words. Your review does the same for me, it either re-emphasizes what I'm seeing or points out different things that I missed. It's like having "another set of eyes". LOL

All critical to any good offense....and we do none of these.

I think it's painfully obvious Zorn is in way over his head as an offensive coordinator/play caller. He might as well be throwing darts to pick his plays.

yeah this kind of says it all right here

D.C. Sports Bog - Zorn Admits He Didn't Know Fair Catch Rule

I really think Zorn could have had some more success here if he didn't surround himself with....well, himself

Where was Danny Smith, the guy that gets paid to know all the special teams stuff (yes Zorn should know it too) while all this was going on?

Going over his notes for the press conference on Oct. 28 when he's introduced as interim head coach??

If I'm deciding between Smith & Gray, I'm going Gray. And Smith's going to get back into the rulebook for Specials (I missed this rule too).
