Re: PS3 Slim

it said it has av out. Well guess that gives me a reason to open the box!!

edit: other web pages say that it comes with a HDMI to Composite connector - which is what I thought the box said.

The AV out is for digital audio if say you want to run the picture to your TV but the audio to your audio receiver. I am 99.9% sure you can only get video to your TV from the PS3 Slim through HDMI.

Plus talk about feeding jet fuel to a Pinto.

You can still keep it but you would need to use something like this to make it work.

Walmart.com: Mad Catz 6' Universal S/AV Cable: Accessories

I literally shutter thinking about using something like that!

Yeah, I know, but I am fine with the Pinto for now, but I wanted some of the jetfuel fun.

You need to post some feedback on how the PS3 move is.

Maybe we can all chip in and get him one and then we can all chip in and get me a new car. I think that would be the coolest thing that has ever been done in an online forum.

Wow, sorry I just got back to this question after a year.

Anyway, you just open PS3Media server on your computer and turn on your PS3. The PS3 will detect the app automatically (assuming you've got the network connection set up correctly in the PS3's settings).

Go to "Video" and you'll see the PMS application- it basically reads all the video files directly from your computer's hard drive (you can tell the app where to look on the computer if you've got your movies under one root folder).

Can't comment specifically on how to get content... just google "usenet" and "11/month astraweb special." Trust me, you'll save tons of money in the long run and your movies/tv shows/apps are boundless... not to mention safe behind ssl.

Well now I don't feel as bad. I got home looked at my tv again and it is in fact high definition. From 2003 and no hdmi interface but it has component in so maybe its not quite a Pinto :-)

Wrong. They come standard with the av cables like the PS3's always have, with hdmi and component being an optional purchase. To get the full bang for your buck on both the graphics and audio it's pretty much a required secondary purchase though.

Re: PS3 Slim

I am quite happy to report that yes, in fact the PS3 worked fine on my TV, with the in the box cables. I will get some component cables later, but the composite they provided were ok. Watched Star Trek through Netflix, and the picture was good for me. Also, the Move controller is pretty cool, but I haven't played the Wii or Kinect, so I have no comparison. I only did some of the Ping Pong, and beach volleyball, but both responded great to the realistic motions. No doubt that if you have the PS3, you would want the Move controller at some point.
