Re: Brian Orakpo = Beast

orakpo is having a great year, but people seem to be overlooking the fact that andre carter is having an amazing season. 42 tackles, 3 ff, and 8 sacks. great year. why not try he and orakpo together full time on the d-line?

I disagreed with the Rogers pick with DeMarcus Ware and Shawne Merriman still on the board. At least with Orakpo, we finally have the impact pass rusher that we passed on back then. And don't underestimate the impact of Haynesworth. He makes Orakpo and Carter almost unblockable since he's taking a double team on many plays. I'm amazed that the secondary hasn't made more plays with a vastly improved pass rush. Landry is all but invisible.

Carter deserves some serious Pro Bowl consideration this year.

Let's not forget Jarmon, I'm beginning to see flashes of potential and next year he could be a beast.

On not passing up the OBVIOUS pick to make when Orakpo miraculously fell to us, sure, I'll give him credit for the pick.

However, he went on to ignore the o-line AGAIN in the remainder of the draft and only Marko Mitchell may work out (next year) with the rest of his picks...so overall, the draft was a failure beyond scoring 'Rak.

Maybe if Barnes takes over for Carlos and plays well, Vinny can get a little more credit from me on the way out the door.

With Rogers all but gone after this year, Tryon and Barnes better be ready to contribute next year. Vinny needs some of his mid-round picks to start making an impact, to legitimize his last two drafts. Rinehart, Tryon, and Barnes have done little to date. That said, we can all agree that Orakpo has been a home run, but I'll repeat that he was an easy pick to get right when he fell in our laps.

Re: Brian Orakpo = Beast

So are we saying that Orakpo should stay at OLB or should we put him at DE still to see if we get even better results? I think the best possible postion for Orakpo would be at 3-4 OLB like James Harrison.

Yeah if Jarmon some how pans out then we have a d line comparable to the really good ones up in Minnesota and New York (giants not jets)

Just curious why you phrase it like that. From the limited action where I have seen him on the field, it certainly seems like he is a capable player. Seems to have speed and power, so have you seen something that gives you pause?

Re: Brian Orakpo = Beast

yes yes good job vinny...now just get us a qb, a coach, cheaper beer, a less diva running back (pref under the age of 30), a new cover corner, and oh yes - the much hyped 1st round draft picks used on the oline

Re: Brian Orakpo = Beast

Rak is a beast, but Micheal Oher was available as well correct? So that is a toss up on who could have been the better player for us right away. So this is where the VC arguement can start. Did he draft the right player for our team? Keep in mind we have all been bitching about the fact that we don't get enough sacks for years, but now our immediate need has shifted from the Dline to the Oline. Time to sure this unit up for years to come the way we have sured up the dline for years to come this past off season.
