I've always thought too bad you can't give Montgomery the motor that Kedric Golston has. That would be a dangerous DT.

We needed a NT and he's a good one, IMO. I'm confident that the Redskins did their due diligence in regard to his injury.
Big Al probably just exhaled a sigh of relief that he might not have to play NT. So did I because I think it would be a waste of his pass-rushing talent. |

Re: Maake Kemoeatu DT signs 2yr $7million deal
If healthy this is a good pickup. He can play the middle and let AH play end...where he can be more of a difference maker. My main concern would be his health obviously and Daniels' age. I mean a 3-4 with those guys healthy is pretty damn stout but all 3 have injury concerns. Montgomery and Golston remain as solid backups I guess but Golston is undersized and Montgomery is under-motivated.

He is a force in the middle! I'm glad we have him on board. If he is healthy that 3-4 defense maybe very dangerous. Hail!!!

So bottom line -- I feel bad I don't know who this guy really is -- is he an upgrade over Griff? Provided he's healthy, of course.

Re: Maake Kemoeatu DT signs 2yr $7million deal
considering Griff is barely 300lbs, i'd say so although i highly doubt Kemoeatu is expected to be a long-term solution. is this our first samoan player?

Re: Maake Kemoeatu DT signs 2yr $7million deal
Oh yeah. Griff isn't a 3-4 Nose. DTs are not equivalent to Nose tackles. Good Noses are maybe they most rare player in the league. They need to be big, strong and agile. There are like 5 that are any good and everyone else pretends. AH could be the best but it would be a waste of his talents. This guy is perfect. He's big and strong and has performed. Montgomery has the size but his lack of motor could kill him at Nose because it is a motor position. He'd need to light a serious fire under his ass to do it well. Otherwise he'd be one of the pretenders.

Sounds like buying time until they can get a new guy up to speed at NT.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he works out during training camp. And no, this isn't our first Samoan player. Joe Salave'a was the first or at least the most recent. |

Looks like the team did its homework with putting together this contract. Had this been a Vinny signing, of the 7 mil, 5 mil would have been guaranteed or something crazy like that.
