Re: Skins sign blocking TE Sean Ryan

How does this make Cooley feel now that his best friend (Yoder) most likely won't be rejoing the team?

good point but we've signed like what...3 guys. That means Sean Ryan represents 33% of the action this offseason so we have to get up in arms about it haha

Yoder has been a fine Skin and I like him. I'm just trying to be realistic. We didn't sign Yoder, he's aging, we now have 3 TE's who are younger, etc.

Ever stop to think that Sellers might be the odd man out in all this. I know it's a stretch but I've learned not to be surprised by anything this front office does.

In other news Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan has brought in another head coach to compete with him.

Competition brings out the best, but I heard they were looking at within the organization to compete w/him. Wouldn't have to change much, just a letter or two.

Re: Skins sign blocking TE Sean Ryan

Kansas City used him a lot in pass blocking last year, where he struggled. As a blocking TE, I think there are better options, but his frame is perfect for blocking purposes.

What I was trying to say in 11 words or less (this is quite hard for me, as one may imagine) is that he's poorly suited to be a No. 2 TE who plays a lot based on his blocking skills. In Yoder's role, he's an obvious upgrade.

Just don't ask him to do the job of the tackle, or Andre Carter is going to kill him.

Perhaps . . .

Yoder catches TDs. He blocks. He knows his shit. Cooley used to drop the ball all the time. He still does every once in awhile. Neither Cooley or Davis block worth a damn. I'd rather have Yoder for one more year.

Re: Skins sign blocking TE Sean Ryan

Yoder doesn't block a damn either. Not even compared to Cooley or Davis.

Red zone machine though (now I'm just quoting my own spreadsheet) who was always open more than his fair share.

I think we should just get Big Mike Williams to lose another hundred pounds and move him to TE.

No way. Davis stinks at blocking and Cooley is coming back from an injury.

That's actually not a bad idea.

Davis has terrible blocking numbers--from both me and other sources--last year, but he's still a lot better at it that Yoder is.

Cooley is all over the place from year to year. Last year he was awful. He was awful when he came in to the league. In 2007 and 2008 he was one of the better blocking TEs in the league.
