Re: Predict Our Front Seven Starters For the 3-4

Smoot why do you believe that Brandon Spikes will fall to us? I really don't see how we will have a chance to draft him. He is projected any where from the 1st to 3rd round. I really don't believe the guy will make it out of the 1st round.

Re: Predict Our Front Seven Starters For the 3-4

I see him as more likely a mid to late 3rd rounder, and when all is said and done I think we'll have that pick to be able to take Spikes. But I'm just purely guessing here

Re: Predict Our Front Seven Starters For the 3-4

Is his draft status dropping because of his poor showing at the combine and his off field issues?

I have no idea what Shanny will do but this is the lineup that I believe gives us the best chance to stuff the run. Except Daniels should start over Golston on run downs...Golston should be rotated to relieve Daniels and Haynesworth.

NT-Kemo
RDE-Haynesworth

LOLB-Carter(he'll probably start because of his veteran status but i think Wilson will play more and eventually become the starter)
WILB-Rocky (they gotta work something out, i don't think Rocky really wants outta here b/c all he would have to do is skip OTAs and not tell Shanahan)
SILB-Fletcher
ROLB-Orakpo

*If Rocky is traded then it would make sense to play Blades as the SILB and Fletcher at the WILB

Poor 40 time. Ran something like a 5.0. Combine that with the character issues and you see teams much more hesitant to spend an early round pick on a guy like Spikes.

Haden improves 40 time, Spikes runs slowly - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

According to TFY Draft Preview, his unofficial times were a 5.02 and a 5.08.
It is an interesting parallel though. The last time Shanahan drafted a problem child from Florida in the fourth round who was expected to go higher was Marcus Thomas the DT in 2007. So far he's been average at best.

1st off ... Kindoy your SIG is retarted, what's a name have anything to do with performance? Anyways the only way we get spikes is if we trade someone (haynesworth) to get back into the 2nd rd. No way he falls to the 3rd especially looking at his overall skills as a lb.

What? $3 or $5 million a year for a premier DT?

Honestly. I believe yours is the most likely. I'd love to see Rocky back but Blades has the potential to be a quality starter. He's like a young, inexperienced version of London Fletcher. He won't end up AS GREAT as Fletch, but he's a good replacement plan for the future.

Re: Predict Our Front Seven Starters For the 3-4

So right now it seems...

ILB - Fletch
ILB - Blades (I hope we get better than this)
OLB - Orakpo
OLB - Wilson/Alexander

DE - Haynesworth
NT - Kemo/Green/Monty/Who Knows
DE - Carriker

I like Phillip Daniels, but I'd rather have him as a back up DE.

Looking good to me. If we can add Rocky back into the LB mix, I'm very happy with the D.

The only real weakness on the D could be Free Safety...but Horton could fill that need, right? If not, perhaps Kareem Moore?

CB seems strong with Hall and Rogers backed up by Buchanon and Barnes.

If healthy, we could pick up Darren Sharper.

Just for the record a lot of you have commented on me starting Blades at ILB, mostly positively. Just to clarify this prediction is based mainly on a scouting report I read that said the following:

Quote:
Comment: Blades had a very solid year in his second season with the Redskins. He plays with good pad level and power attacking the line of scrimmage.
If this assesment from scouts Inc is accurate then I think Blades would be a better fit. As most of you already know in playing ILB in a 3-4 you need to be able to deal with interior lineman since they will be more likely to reach you in a 3-4.

This suggest that Blades is strong enough to hold his own in that situation. Scouts Inc also suggested that Rocky might need to be covered up to be effective and if thats true then I think Blades would be the better fit. Of course Rocky did play well last year at the SAM position if I recall correctly. So who knows, maybe we actually do have some pretty good depth at ILB.

In the meantime can someone clarify Rocky playing SAM linebacker last year?

Re: Predict Our Front Seven Starters For the 3-4

As I said in post #25, I am confident that Blades can be a quality starter. He's a lot like Fletcher in physical makeup and skillset. I hope he plays as hard as Fletcher and becomes the player he could potentially be.

When I say I want McIntosh back, it's mainly for depth. He has a lot of talent and can fit in somewhere. Beyond our starters, we're very thin at LB.
