Luckily nobody was hurt. Could only imagine the destruction there would've been if that bomb had detonated.

Im offended that yahoo wanted me to watch an ad prior to seeing the video. I mean cant they employ some discretion when putting ads on videos. Cute puppy dogs dressed up in Halloween customs (Ad - yes). Nationwide man hunt for terror suspect (Ad - no).

Re: The "almost" Times Square Bomb

that's a weird thing to get offended to. So when you buy a newspaper you don't want ads in the A section, or when you watch the 10 oclock news they shouldn't put teasers before ads?

That is going to be a popular link, hence good ad space. (not as good as a truck though)

Thats how they can offer the news and the online services for free. I'm sure they offer a pay service if you don't want to watch the comercials.

I don't watch it very often and when I did I thought I was watching reruns thinking they did't still produce the show. Then I'm sitting there watching it and the topic was current and I kind of laughed at myself.

Interestingly enough, it was parked outside Viacom, where they product offensive garbage like South Park and MTV.

It it was a Muslim who did this (it usually is), they're probably mad about some Mohammed jokes on a cartoon. As we saw with the rioting and murders all over Europe a few years ago, a simple comic strip can send millions of them them into riots and killing sprees.

Re: The "almost" Times Square Bomb

Back to the attempt, I wonder if he planned on being a suicide bomber, and when it did not go as planned he tried to get out of town; or if he was trying to avoid the blast altogether. If the vehicle had blown up, finding the VIN of the specific vehicle would have been a humongous undertaking. Assuming this guy is the right guy, then good job piecing it all together that quickly.

see McVeigh, Timothy and Stack, Joseph.
of course when the american white guys do it we just call them "disgruntled and angry" or that they just have "some misguided gripes with the government" instead of calling them what they are (Terrorists, yea, i went capital T).

btw, when we invade and demolish another country based on trumped up phoney evidence on WMD and cuz we want regime change, and hundreds of thousands of innocents die in the process, i guess that's just "foreign policy" and not terrorism.
woah woah woah, stop being objective.

Re: The "almost" Times Square Bomb

So how did this guy manage to get on the plane when he was on the no-fly list? Apparently the carrier or airport didn't have an updated list? He bought a one way ticket to Pakistan with cash... isn't a transaction like that supposed to set off all sorts of red flags??

Just glad they caught the guy.

Re: The "almost" Times Square Bomb

Here is one scenario, still doesn't explain the getting on the actual plane though: The FBI/Homeland Security had the airport wanted him to go through security so that they knew he had no explosives or weapons etc.

Of course if Jack Bauer had been in charge (and it wasn't the last episode) he would have gotten on the plane as Jack was running through the airport yelling "Turn that plane around NOW"!
I love 24, and imagine that this investigation was done at nearly as hectic a pace as that show runs at.
