We just cut our 2nd round pick wide-out that was drafted a couple of years ago. This guy albeit was not so much as sniffing the field on offense. But, he was running back some nice kick-off returns, and getting us some nice field position.

I think we are F'ed.
IF Torrain goes down, then both my fantasy teams are ruined but worst of all we hand the ball off to our NEW Ladell Betts or Rocky. unfortunately - K.Williams. I don't think this guy is worth all the screens and dump offs, he doesnt have ability to make anyone miss and it be worth a shot down the field where is fred davis at?

IMO, this year is underway and coach will do whats right and next year we have an attractive team with plenty of opportunity for FA's.

Don't get me wrong I am a Portis fan but I know when a RB has lost some wheels and he has been slow for 3 years now. It is time we addressed the backfield and now we will get an eye opener. The good news is...it works out in our favor.
Since no one else would do it, I guess I will. Are you ready to eat crow now? As we clearly saw today the Redskins rushing problems go beyond Portis... Hell, even if the Redskins can't run the ball, with Portis in there McNabb doesn't get knocked down or sacked as much as he did today, Matthews would not have given McNabb that much trouble with Portis back there to pick up the blitzes.

We need to face it our rushing game has HUGE problems the goes beyond who is carrying the ball. I wanted in the worst way to see Torain bust out today, but he couldn't behind that "patchwork" line, at best....

Torain isn't a feature back, we need to definitely still concentrate on upgrading the o line and we also need to get Keiland more involved to become more physical in the ground game and to give Torain a break.

Re: new era O

so according to some of you CP26 has not lost a couple steps?
the only team in the NFL to have the same featured back since 2004....

I am not denying that Portis hasn't lost a step, but my point is that the rushing troubles that are facing the Redskins are much deeper than the person carrying the ball.

Portis is still a good running back on the backside of his career, but when the line can't hold and sustain their blocks worth a damn then I don't care who is running the ball, they will fail....

This is accurate IMO. The o-line had a really rough game yesterday, both in pass pro & run blocking. give them credit though for shuffling around & doing just enough to let McNabb do his thing & get a win.

Torain is avg. Sure he runs hard but he doesn't have great vision, lateral moves or burst. If a hole is there between the tackles he'll hit it, but it looked like on a no. of occassions that he missed bigger holes. On the screens he seemed out of place running in the open field.

Torain did seem to improve in blitz pickups, that's going to be huge as the season goes on.
