Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
This is a forced choice since I do not want a QB at #10 but if I have to...
Ryan Mallett

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
I would like for us to draft Locker, although he regressed last year I think he has the intangibles to improve with the right coaching.
I would only be okay if we drafted Cam Newton and kept McNabb. I think he would have a positive influence on the kid, and give Cam the opportunity to develop some fundamentals on the bench.

Dalton in the second round, but we could probably get him or Ponder if we dropped into the third round with an extra pick after trading out of the 10th spot.

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
#10 Washington Redskins: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
As mentioned earlier, Blaine Gabbert supposedly is the best quarterback available. He seems like he could fit into Mike Shanahan's offense, so he'll probably be the pick if he's on the board. I don't need to tell you how much the Redskins need a quarterback. For more on this quarterback, we have an interesting thread going about Blaine Gabbert on the forum. Other 2011 NFL Draft Possibilities: 1. Ryan Kerrigan or Von Miller, DE/OLB - If the Redskins don't like any of the quarterbacks, they'll take the best defensive player available. That could be Ryan Kerrigan or Von Miller, both of whom would upgrade a poor pass rush. 2. J.J. Watt, DE/DT - Albert Haynesworth probably won't be back, so the Redskins will need an upgrade on their defensive front. Pick change; previously Cam Newton, QB ***this is from Walterfootball.com**

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
Gabbert, he's a fit for the Shanahan scheme. His strength is deep ball accuracy (big arm, nice accuracy, good touch), and Shanahan's offense asks the QB to read deep first, then to the intermediate, then to short.
Gabbert is coming from a system where he didn't have to make a lot of reads, if the deep ball was there he'd throw it. So he'll come in ready to hit on the deep stuff, and he seems bright enough to me to learn the rest of the progressions and reads.

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
Other Tyrod Taylor but not at 10. If I have to take a QB at 10 I do not wish to participate in this poll. There is no QB in the draft worthy of the number 10 spot.

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
1st round - best available player.
2nd round - Pat Devlin (Deleware) for the sake of answering the qb question 2nd round (ideal choice) - best player available at DE, OLB, G, T, C. None of these QB's available in the 1st round seem surefire to me and we need to much help at many other positions to possibly waste a 1st round pick on a QB with a high bust rate. We need help at DE, OLB, G, T, C, and possibly a DB if Carlos Rogers signs elsewhere. I'd rather take my chances with Grossman for another year to see if he can improve and keep getting the rest of the team better so when we find a qb we are ready to rock. |

Should have clarified and said you've got to pick a QB at 10

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
Out of those, Ryan Mallett. Newton is my second choice. Gabbert won't be available at #10, I bet Carolina will take him first.
Locker was the top guy before LAST season, but his stock has gone down in his senior year. Wasn't a solid season for him. He should have left a year sooner for the NFL. He had 4 games where he passed with UNDER 50% completion rate, including a 4/20, 71 yard stinker and 5/16 for 56 yards in their Bowl game. His propensity to throw INTs in almost every game with an occasional big game reminds me way too much of Jay Cutler. He threw picks in 7 of the team's 12 games. Passed for under 100 yards in 4 games too. Jake Locker Stats, Splits, News, Photos - Washington Huskies - NCAA College Football - ESPN Now compare them to Mallett's stats, against far better competition in the SEC: Ryan Mallett Stats, Splits, News, Photos - Arkansas Razorbacks - NCAA College Football - ESPN

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
The most ready NFL QB coming out this year is Ryan Mallet. He is very accurate, strong armed and mobile enough to escape the rush.
But can he read NFL defenses? No, but what QB can coming out of college? And don't say Luck or whomever, they can't because they have not seen the stuff DC throw at rookies. Newton probably is a better athlete than most coming out. But that does not equate to being the most NFL ready. |

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
I would take Mallett.at any rate,Locker and Newton may be gone by the time the redskins pick anyway.Tyrod Taylor is not an NFL QB.his best chance is to be converted to WR or KR.although he could be used in the wildcat offense.

Re: IF We Take A QB At #10...Who Do You Want?
A lot of you may not want to admit it, but the Skins will have to draft a QB this year at #10. Having a rookie QB on board now to learn the offense would be the right way to go.
