Re: Herschel walker wants NFL return!!!
I would LOVE for the SOB to make it. Could there be a better example for some of the ..............entitled players today for work ethic?
Bring him to camp!

Re: Herschel walker wants NFL return!!!
Jim Brown tried the same thing in 1983, but he was shot physically. He just didnt know it. He was also slow when he raced Franco Harris.
Herschel Walker looks like he could lace up right now and play tomorrow...

Re: Herschel walker wants NFL return!!!
Herschell was a great college player, and a pretty good nfl player too, but that seems overshadowed by his workouts/physical shape & the minnesota trade.
I know someone says he runs a 4.38. Bet that was hand timed & if went to the combine he would be closer to 4.6. He would have to be slower in terms of quickness & reflexes. IT would be interesting to see how he could stack up now, but I don't think it's realistic that he could make a team. His best bet would be fullback, but he was never a good blocker. |

This is all just talk. It is a non-story. Herschel has 'no doubt' he could play in NFL (but won't) | Jeff Schultz “I was asked [on a conference call earlier Monday] if I thought I could still play football, and my answer is yes,” Walker said by phone. “There’s no doubt in my mind. I couldn’t play every snap, but most running backs today don’t play every snap. I joked that when I turned 50, maybe I’ll comeback and be the George Foreman of the NFL. If I played for anybody, it would be for Atlanta, since that’s my home team.” But is this something Walker actually is entertaining? “No, it was just a question a reporter asked,” he said. “I haven’t had any thought about it. I’ve been into MMA now for a little over a year and I’m enjoying it. I’m watching [football] games but I haven’t had any thought about playing again.” That is what I was referring to about trying to promote his fight and make a buck. Not make a buck playing in the NFL. |

Re: Herschel walker wants NFL return!!!
I always wondered if the NFL season only consisted of 10 games per year, would that mean less wear and tear on the athletes and allow some players to play further up into their 40's?
He's not seriously returning, but I wouldn't doubt he would make a team.

Herschel Walker lives right, eats healthy, and exercises year round, so it's not surprising he could still play. I think Brett Favre's season would have went much better had he went home after the championship game last year and immediatley started rehabbing/working out, etc...instead of coming back at the end of preseason all out of shape and everything. Its why guys in MMA are still fine in their 40's, because they take care of themselves year round, keep training, etc....

Re: Herschel walker wants NFL return!!!
^^There is more chances of wear and tear that can happen with increased amount of hitting and contact. The more you do it the more likely you could get a concussion or have some other wear and tear injury.
If you limit or reduce the amount of violent contact but stay in shape and live right you can extend the life of football players. The problem is the greedy owners won't have any of it. Plus if you take away games or even if you leave it as is, the coaches will add more mandatory OTA's, as we all know there is no such thing as voluntary OTA's. Right? Also, the idea that there is no or little contact in OTA's is also a joke......right? Teams get busted every year for too much contact in non-contact OTA's. |
