Re: One Year Today
Good Job FirstDown! I myself consider myself to be an ex-smoker, although through the past year since I first quit completley, last January, i have had a few slip ups. I think its common for people trying to quit to experience the occasional falling off the wagon.
You have my respect for making it a whole year. I hope that i can quit again and stay off it too. Tomorrow is planned to be my first smoke free day, starting the process over again. I fell off the wagon hard over the last 2 weeks, but I am going to give it my best shot going forward.

Re: One Year Today
If I can quit I know you can SS. I used Chanix for about two months which seemed to curve my desire to smoke some. You have to change your daily life that has to do with smoking. I did little things like not stopping in the morning for coffee because I get my coffee and fire up a smoke. I would go to lunch then right back to the office so I'd not smoke. I put down drinking for a few weeks and when I did start drinking I went with vodka because it does not make me want to smoke as much. I still have not drank Bourbon sense I put down the smokes because it really make me crave a sig. Its all those little things that make quitting a little easier. The main thing to do is just not smoke and remember that craving will go away as fast as they come. I also changed my thinking about smoking. Instead of seeing someone smoking and thinking boy that must taste good I would think man thats gross. Every time you see some smoking think that way and it does help. Also throw away everthing you have that is related to smoking and with them at over $5 a pack should help some.Good luck.

Re: One Year Today
Hope this doesn't cause you to start again FD, but it looks like you and Pres. Obama have one thing in common:

Re: One Year Today
I dont get the big deal people make about Obama and Boehner smoking, whats the big deal?
Also has anyone else smoked a e-ciggerette. I play on a kick ball team and one day this girl shows up with one. So i tried it and got a really nice buzz of it. I always thought they were fake but i they actually work. I think she said that she liked it more then regular cigs. Im a non-smoker but ocasionally ill try one. If you ever start smoking again First you should try the e-cig. |

Re: One Year Today
I gave up smoking in August of 2001. It was rough for about the first 2 weeks, but got much easier after that. I still have the occasional craving, but overall, I've become a bit of a anti-smoking Nazi lol... I quit cold turkey for what it's worth. I started at 15 and quit at 24.
