Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

All the QB's mentioned in this thread are stop gap second and third tier QB's. The only guy that I'd think about making a starter is Marc Bulger. He's a accurate pure passer but he needs a line in front of him in the worst way. But with that being said, none of those guys are coming here and even if they did are they really going to play any better than the incumbents? No. We're going to see Beck, Grossman and a rookie. I just hope that rookie isn't taken until the later rounds cause IMO none of these guys are worth taking in the first two.

Smith isn't any better than Grossman. You could argue that he's worse.

Everyone one of these guys are 2nd and 3rd stringers. None of them are starters nor should they be considered as starters. Brady Quinn couldn't even beat out Tebow.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

Smith would be a good fit but I doubt it happens.. Shanny seems to want 'his guy' rather than another cast-off. I'm not sold on any of the QB this year, all (other than Gabbert) seem to have a huge question mark and talent but I don't see any of them being on par with any of the young QB in the league now. I'm not sure any of their ceilings are equal to Sanchez's among young QB and he's slightly above average at best.

I'd be fine going into camp with Smith, Grossman, Beck and us using #10 on OLB or WR and #41 on NT or RT.

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

We had our QB of the future but we let Rich Bartel go to Arizona.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

I dunno...part of me says to build the offensive line and find a key RB or WR this year....the other part of me likes what Smootsmack said....draft two QBs and let them compete with each other. Either way, does it really matter who the QB is going to be this year? The Redskins are probably going to have another tough year anyways. Rex does know the system....just sayin'.....I'd probably just keep Rex around for one year at least....

possibly....but alex smith has been in a crappy situation in san fran from day one basically, sometimes a young qb just needs a fresh start. i wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot at all, as long as it is at a very reasonable cost.

not really, thats why i hope we don't over reach for one ala mcnabb, even tho the deal seemed decent at the time it was very unnecessary. hindsight is 20/20 but looking back we could have kept soup and rode it out, but shanny thought he could work a miracle. i just hope he has learned that this team is not very good talent wise and it's going to be atleast a year if not two until we really need an elite qb. right now we have no wr's or rb's to compliment him, and he will be running for his life due to our lack of a line.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

Repent the end is nigh. Only those who believe in Alexander the Great 1b will be forgiven once he's on board. All the Andy Daltons, Jay Cutlers, and John Elways in the world can't compare to a Shanahan coached Alex Smith!

In all seriousness though I like him just because he gives us a veteran option with upside. I think right now the best thing we can do is hope that a guy like Smith or Bulger hits the market to compete with Rex and we draft a rookie QB that hopefully defies the odds and breaks the trend of 2nd round QB bust.

None of the above changes anything about what I posted or has anything to do with what I posted.

I would take Troy Smith and T.Jack and heck even Matt Lienart over Alex Smith or Rex Grossman.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

Alex Smith ? REALLY ... How is Alex Smith a better option than Rexy ... what the hell is going on here ... Why not just go get Jamarcus Russell back in the fold ? Keep The Rex Cannon, draft a QB in first 3 rounds and let's get this party started

Great. More growing pains. Just like with McNabb, who by the way is a far better QB. Oh well.

I am more open to Bulger than smith. That way we know the future is in the rookie that will be drafted.

Id be up for bringing him in over both of them too. The only reason Id be up for A. Smith over Grossman is like someone said b4, upside. I think we saw what we got with Rexy in this offense at the end of the year. I really couldnt guage Smith in this offense, but jesus christ San Fran has been HORRIBLE for a long time. He's due for a change of scenery, he would be next to nothing to bring in. Little risk.
