Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
Truth, what I hate most is when they complain about not being able to recoup their money for the games that they dont attend, like it is some right

I did tone it down quite a bit. When we were dating she used to watch the games with me. At one point she asked what jersey number did "are you effing kidding me" wear.
Now she finds stuff to do during the game and just checks in during halftime. |

But because of the Irene Giants had to play 2 games within 72 hours. It totally messed up their practice schedule. We will see if it has consquences for them next week!

The idea of paying for preseason tickets is idiotic. I would only go to those games if the tickets are free.
Btw, yesterdays game was practically empty so there are some intelligent fans out thete.

The main thing that keeps me from going to the game is location. Landover MD sucks. Its far away, traffic on 495 is horrible and you can't do anything in landover after the game.
If the stadium were in dc I would not mind going to a preseason game for a reasonable price .

Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
would you be happier if they just raised the regular season ticket prices and told you the pre-season is free, or raised the price of beer and hot dogs a little, or parking or merchandise.
either way there going to get your money. |

Still can't believe it was called Raljon.
And I'll second the statement about Landover being a crappy place to have the stadium. There isn't anything to do out there besides go to the game.

I don't get that whole marketing deal by the NFL. Why not just slap a $25 (or free) price on preseason tickets and transfer the rest to the regular season tickets? If you made preseason tickets free, the cost of tickets would go up $25 for each of the 8 home games. I keep hearing season ticket holders say they are at their limit in terms of paying more for season tickets and they are dropping them if they get continue to climb. Mind you, these were the same people that were in front of the line paying out season ticket invoices during a lockout when it wasn't even known if there was going to be a season.

Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
The preseason is a ripoff but it's never gonna change. Only chance I have as a season ticket holder to pair down those losses is with the 18 game schedule. With an 18 game schedule there is only 1 preseason game to pay for which is not to bad. Either way though I will continue to buy the season tickets and every year when i send in my money i am doing it knowing that the preseason is included so really this is a non issue. No one forces us to buy anything...

That is the whole point, to line the owners pockets. The NFL is a business first and foremost. They know they have you hooked, and like any monopoly can charge you what and how they want. They will get theirs in the end though. They are already outpricing themselves out of the entertainment market. Once the middle class gets fleeced with this double dip recession/depression coming upon us, nobody is going to go to a NFL game. I can get season tickets to both my alma maters football seasons for less than $70. Granted with Eastern Mich the level of football stinks, but it is a lot cheaper than what the Skins and co. charge, plus I can go to Ann Arbor after the game only a mile away. |
