Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...
I've heard people label Toby Keith as racist too.
I dunno much about country artists and their stances but people seem to love throwing that race card around with country music singers. All I can remember is how people crucified the Dixie Chicks for saying how ashamed they were to be from the same state as Bush. They never really recovered from that.

Yes, they are, but they label their own race as the racist in an effort to be PC (or whatever).

It's a right of passage or a president to be called Hitler now a days. The left did it to Bush, now the right is doing it to Obama. You can't hope for reelection till you get a public hitler reference. Congrats Barry, you've finally made it.

Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...
Well he's an idiot....but I am not so sure he was calling Obama Hitler was he?. Or at least I think he was just being retardedly inarticulate. I think he meant a meeting between Boehner and Obama was like a meeting between Hitler and Netanyahu in the polar opposite sense. Right?
He's a drunk donkey either way and I couldn't care less other than: it wasn't in any way racist...just because Obama is black doesn't mean a stupid comparison was racist...although he may be racist anyways...i have no idea |

Wasn't it about time to change up that horrible MNF intro anyway? Good riddance. Not that NBC's is any better.

Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...
Sure seems like there are racist undertones but there is no way to prove racism was or wasn't a factor that led to Williams Jr. making that statement.
Also, it is easy to say he was just trying to make an analogy but my homies at Fox and Friends gave him a few opportunities to make that clear during the interview. Seems he was doing more than making a simple analogy. Quote:

The left really likes to throw around the racist word every chance they get. What he said was stupid not racist.

I'd say he needs to stick to music not politics. Like the guys music or not he is a very talented musician. He does not need MNF because a country boy can survive.

Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...
Why do we need someone singing a song to get us hyped for football? Just show a highlight package of some of the greatest plays and biggest hits at crucial times in NFL history, with the announcers calling the plays as they happen.
Know what gets me excited for football? FOOTBALL. Not Hank Williams, Pink, or Faith Hill.

Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...
MNF has been treated as more than football for years now in terms of how ABC/ESPN have wanted to position it. It has been produced somewhat differently and its content is put together with less of a focus on just plain football. Hence the odd announcing teams of the past and the musical intros. ESPN has focused it more onto football though since the the current announce team has been in place.
