and below is a pic of mine, i had posted it before but couldn't find it. i wanted something a little different and went with the 70th anniversary spear with the current feathers and a little burgundy and gold blood on the tip for good measure. the 1 is part of a 13 the 3 is on my other wrist. i also have almost a full sleeve on my right arm, with the main feature being a dragon that goes from my wrist to my shoulder. i love tattoo's and love getting new ones, they can be addictive. i hope to get a pretty big chunk of my arm filled in in the next few months.



where are you thinking about getting yours? and how big?

Summo's tat is really nice quality work. You can see the detail in it very well and keeping black is a nice touch, it makes it stand out more because most sports tattoos are done in the colors of the team.

Main thing to remember is get the most reputable place you can find.

I never thought I'd get any until the tragedy with my brother a few years ago and now I have two on the insides of my biceps. If you're wondering what they feel like, my first artist said, "This is going to feel exactly like a sunburn someone is touching." That couldn't have been a more accurate description.

Funny, once you get your first one, you'll want a ton more.

Lol yep. It's not so bad once you get comfortable. My total time for the one I have was about 14 hours over 3 different sessions. Obviously depending on the area you get it done it will hurt more or less. When it starts it hurts more, and then once you get into a rythym it gets easier. For me the place it hurt the most was on top of my shoulder blade, since that was where the skin was closest to the bone. That was a crucial 4 hours lol.

can not stress this enough to anyone who has never gotten a tattoo before. make sure you do your homework, and find a good artist, not just a tattoo artist. you want to find a shop that has artwork out but doesn't just tattoo stencils. most places with really good artists working there don't have 1000 tattoo's you can browes through and pick one. you want to find someone that will take the design you are thinking of and turn it into a tattoo. that way you don't end up with the same tattoo a ton of other people have.

This cannot be stated effectively enough. I've been to a couple tattoo parties, I know a couple "underground" guys who could do work for me if I wanted them to, and that shit is not legit. I know a guy who got an infection from a tattoo party he went to and got a small piece done at. It looked so nasty and made me very thankful I went with a legit artist at a legit place. As far as my piece goes, I presented the idea to 3 artists, had 3 similar renditions drawn up, and chose the one I thought was best. My artist doesn't even have a picture of my tattoo, I actually meant to send one to him after the third session healed and everything but I forgot and I think it's for the better, because now nobody will be able to do something similar off my design.

My friend got the Salvation Army logo on her arm when she was younger (she's a Salvationist) and she absolutely hates it. It looks like a prison tattoo, the lines are uneven in some places, (some too thin, some too thick) although you really can't tell the poor quality of it until you look at it up close. But she got it right on her upper arm meaning when we go out to the club or the bar she has to wear shirts with sleeves or else she gets self conscious because she's got a church logo on her arm and feels like she has a standard to uphold.

Oy.

She uses a balm of some sort to try to lighten it up but its so big nothing's gonna fix that except getting it removed.

I was just listening to a comedian the other day that said all tattoos should read something to the effect of "I'm a dumb ass." That way when you look down at the tattoo and ask yourself why I got the tattoo you can look at it and say "oh yeah."

In all seriousness though if you get a tattoo make sure it's somewhere you can cover it up.
