Vilma and Payton are the head of the snake if you will, they had to get hit hard.

Vilma found out about his suspension via TV, that's kind of lame

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
Horrible move not notifying the players personally but I'm not surprised.
The Saints will be mediocre/bad this season. They won't win their division. Brees should get out. Now's his chance with no contract agreement.

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
I agree the suspension was a bit heavy handed IMO but I get it.

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
Holy smokes about Vilma. A year without pay and a year of getting older away from a game ruled by young men. I don't condone his actions but I feel bad for him.

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
Was it tough? Yup.
Were his actions beyond the pale? Yup. We have beat this horse to death, some of you clearly think these kind of actions are "ehh, everybody does it so it's okay", "it's just how the game is played" or "they're making it a girly game". For those falling in these category and/or who can't/refuse to see the difference between encouraging hard play and encouraging playing to harm, I just don't have anything left to say. (Finally, you want to invoke the "Nurenburg Defense"? Fine - the name says it all as to its validity). They did what they did and they got what they got.

Also, I know that there are people here who are big fans of saying that players need to STFU and just play. Well this is a PRIME example of player who should have done exactly that. Maybe next time Vilma will think twice about saying something ignorant.

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
Just to put this in perspective.
Leonard Little got a DUI and killed someone with his car. Shortly after that he got ANOTHER DUI. He missed 8 games.

Was Goodell in charge when that happened?

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
I have to give Incarcerated Bob some credit. Dude called Vilma's year long suspension a bit ago. He was dead on with his report.

Re: Saints Player Suspensions Coming Down
I think ICB's tweet would explain why Vilma's suspension was so long.
Incarcerated Bob @incarceratedbob Commish laid the hammer on Vilma because he was the most vocal about how he couldn't care what commish did.. #TaughtALesson
