Re: Former Redskin Jack Pardee Terminally Ill
Bummer. I met him at a sporting goods store in Leesburg when he was still playing. I have his autograph somewhere.

Re: Former Redskin Jack Pardee Terminally Ill
He was also the guy who suffered a heat stroke under Paul Bear Bryant at Texas A&M. In fact they mentioned on 980 the other day that it was chronicled on that ESPN movie with Tom Berenger "Junction Boys." The part where they had to take him to the doctor and cover his body in ice, apparently that was suppose to be Jack Pardee but I haven't watched that movie in years so I'm not sure.

Re: Former Redskin Jack Pardee Terminally Ill
There had to be a lot of backlash against a former Cowboy in Reeves possibly being the Redskins HC. No?

Re: Former Redskin Jack Pardee Terminally Ill
Sad to hear. But I will say, the article had one thing that leapt off the page to me: "Pardee's firing came 15 days after the Redskins finished the season with a 6-10 record, the team's worst in 17 years. Pardee was 24-24 in three years as the Redskin head coach."
6-10 was the worst in 17 years (in 1981). Whoa. I have been a fan since about 1974, and I have always been nostalgic about my early years as a fan. And now I recall why. |

I had not heard about this until reading it online the same day as this thread started. I emailed the link to several of his long term teammates who were unaware of his illness until then.

Re: Former Redskin Jack Pardee Terminally Ill
I do remember many not wanting a " cowboy " to coach the B & G . I was only 14 at the time , so I can't recall many details . We got the right guy , J Gibbs was much better than I would have believed !!
