re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns

Right now, all signs point to him not playing. Shanahan is the kind of coach who believes it’s a strategic advantage to keep something like this a mystery. Yet, he publically expressed optimism that RG3 would play Sunday. The only reason I can see Shanahan doing that is if he wants the Browns to prepare for RGIII, but start Cousins.

If Shahahan was truly optimistic that RG3 would play, he’d say it was too early to know anything and probably be a game-time decision - that way the Browns would be preparing for both.

Knowing the heart that RG3 has, I don't see him sitting this game. As long as he thinks there's no risk of him re-aggravating that knee, he's going to be out there.

RGII said the plan is for him to play. RGIII will never miss this game. That said, I would want Cousins starting and have RGIII and Gross-man dressed just in case. ?The Browns are gonna be hard to beat.

It's still Tuesday. We will know on Friday. If they say, "it's a miracle!" he plays.

I say play RGIII, but give him the "non-running Kirk Cousin gameplan". Very little triple-option pistol, more streach runs and play-action boot-legs out of the old Shannahan playbook. Then if RGIII can't hold up or gets sore, you bring in Cousins to run the same offense. The other 10 guys will be practicing and playing the same gameplan, and it won't be a drastic change.

Bring back John Beck!
I agree. If Beck had played last night, the texans would have won handily. If only we could trade RG3 and two more first rounders for Beck.

Yeah, i will be shocked if he doesnt play.

Has anyone heard any news of him walking around since Sunday? How badly is he limping?

I like the idea of Griffen and Shanhan relying on and developing Griffen's pocket passing while his mobility is somewhat limited. But i wish it was against a different team, as the Brown's pass rush is really good.

According to the Washington Post, RG2 said that RG3 is playing on Sunday against Cleveland.

re: Update: Kirk Cousins to Start vs Browns

Someone said it on the first page, I think a lot of misdirection is being used (probably something they will try to fine us for) so the Browns prepare for the wrong guy or have to prepare for two different guys.

I am all for screwing with their mind on the opening drive though with both of them in and in shotgun kinda lined up as if they were split backs and no QB. or Cousins under center with RGIII lined up as the tailback. Do a good ole fake over the head of Cousins snap to RGIII or a good ole snap to RGIII pitch to cousins, just something completely off kilter. No better way to confuse a D then have them looking at the eyes of two QB's behind center.

Belicheat gives bs doubtful and questionable designations each week. If we get fined I would be pissed.

Guys, back up for a second. Pierre Garcon said that Kirk Cousins was starting. No one on the coaching staff said it.
