Witnesses said Rainey and the female accuser were arguing over Rainey's cellphone and Rainey pulled the woman out of a vehicle that belonged to his roommate and then slapped her in the face with an open hand.
Rainey and the woman fell to the ground, and then Rainey chased the woman and grabbed her bag to retrieve his cellphone, the release said. The two fell again. The release said neither Rainey nor the woman suffered visible injuries.
Police charged Rainey, a former standout at the University of Florida, with simple battery (dating violence), a first-degree misdemeanor, and he was booked into the Alachua County Jail.

I like this from the article: "Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers," Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said.

But yet its okay to sexual assault women in a guarded bathroom? Man that is some wierd Steelers logic.

Translation: Rainey is expendable because he's not our franchise QB.

Re: Around the league divisional weekend

I hate to say this, but Seattle has the best shot to pull the upset this weekend. They will pound Lynch against Atlanta's D, opening play action and read option for Wilson. The Seahawks will win the time of possession battle, and Matt Ryan has come up very small in the postseason. I love Atlanta's receivers, and Julio Jones is a handful, but I have a feeling about Seattle and their physical D forcing key turnovers this weekend.

I think Atlanta rolls Seattle actually.

And what is Buffalo doing? Are they going to be Syracuse in the NFL? Lol

Why? Didn't you read my diatribe against the Falcons earlier in the thread? My logic is undeniable.

Slayings not forgotten, Ray Lewis not forgiven

A shame people still look up to or revere this guy.

I don't know why people look up to athletes in general.

Re: Around the league divisional weekend

In other news, the end of a era is among us.

Jake Russell ‏@_JakeRussell

Just confirmed with Dave Spigler, "Spiggy Hogette" that the Hogettes are in fact, disbanding after 30 years of supporting the Redskins.

I bet they'll be happy about not having to dress up now....lol Damn if I would have done it.

Big Ben, Leonard Little, Dante Stallworth, and Pacman Jones have all done things that have led to someone's death, rape, or life-altering injury and got away with it pretty much. Yet we all support the enterprise that allowed these guys to walk out from these situations without much punishment.

Unfortunate for sure, but Lewis was acquitted, like he should have been given the evidence.

Quote:
For "closure," she wants to talk to Lewis. If she gets the chance, Lollar-Owens says she would ask him for money, not for herself, but to build a beauty salon in the name of her nephew, the barber.

"That would be my kind of closure, because I would have his memory," she says.

She also wants the truth. "I would like for him to tell one day exactly what happened," Lollar-Owens says.
Not sure this sits really well with me, figured you would jump all over this.

She already has his memory, why the need for money over the truth?

That part of the article really made me feel less sympathy for her. It's terrible to lose a son I hope I will only have to imagine it but to say money will make it better in anyway seems like a low thing to say. Of course the last part of knowing the truth makes perfect sense for closure.
