Re: Game Day Experience ?

i have flown back to DC each year ive lived in AZ. BC I love the gameday experience, look i know the line gets crossed. But if you dont love screaming DEFENSE or chanting RG3 you r nuts. Love going to games, love getting rowdy, cursing i get. I was way worse in my younger days but saying anything but F id say is fair game. You are at a nfl game, not a broadway play. KEEP FED EX ROCKING

And I do agree that the day games are much more calmer than the night games and that the lower you are, the less issues you tend to have.

Nowadays, I only go when my wife gets tickets and a parking pass from one of her vendors, and we make a day of it. Get there when the lots open, tailgate and eat, watch the game, tailgate a bit more and go home once the traffic starts to clear up a bit. Inside, I might buy a soda or a beer and that's it. We always eat plenty while we tailgate, and then we make sure to have some snacks and leftovers for after the game.
We do the same thing and traffic is never an issue. Brats before the game and shish kabobs after.

Re: Game Day Experience ?

I enjoy sitting in the comfort of my own home, going to the bathroom whenever I need to (and I can pause the game and catch up during the beer commercials!), getting food whenever I want to, not having some drunk idiot sitting near me, don't have to pay for my car in to be parked in the driveway, and I can keep the caps on my drink.

I went to 1 redskins game, it was preseason, and I figured that it wouldn't be a pain with traffic and drunk idiots. It was a pain and it was a little more than 50,000 people in attendance. I was thinking about if its this bad at half capacity, imagine it at 90,000?!?

You'd have to pay me to go to a redskins game, because I'm happy cheering for them at my house.

That shit was fine for me when I was in my early 20s. Now that I am in my mid-30s, the comfort of my home will do fine. I'd do a nice weather day in a heartbeat, but I am not made for the cold weather.

Re: Game Day Experience ?

I think it comes down to what game you go to. I went to the Bengals, Giants, and Seahawks games this year. The Bengals game was cool just because it was the home opener but honestly I would probably rather have just stayed home. On the other for the Giants game I can't imagine sitting on my couch rather than being in the stands. Walking out of there knowing your team just did something special and you were there to witness it live is amazing. Same with the Seahawks game. Sure the result was not a good one but I loved being in the stands for our first home playoff game in over a decade, and I definitely like seeing Seattle get that delay of game penalty when they were on my side of the field and feeling like I contributed to that.

The feeling you get when you can yell at the top of your lungs and actually feel like you're doing something to benefit your team is also amazing. That doesn't happen when you yell at your tv.

With all that said it's a bit of a conflicting feeling every time I'm going to a game. I obviously miss the comfort of being at home and being able to watch football right before/after, and not paying ridiculous prices for subpar food and drink. At the same time though, those special Redskins moments are that much more special when you get to witness them in the stadium with your fellow Skins fans.

Gaintone, if I'm going to make a suggestion, I say take your grandson to a game or two. You cant avoid the drunks completely, and you definitely cant avoid the cursing but it's not as bad as some make it out to be. Especially if you sit in lower lever seats. The gameday experience is definitely something worth experiencing.

I didn't even get to the weather part, because I've been outside to see football games in the cold before(and rain), believe me. I can only imagine how much more that would suck to add to the list of points above for the redskins experience.

Yeah me too, maybe we've gone soft or maybe we're just getting smarter?

I remember going to see the Pats/Jets in New England back in '93 - Bledsoe was a rookie. It was late November and it was an absolute monsoon of a rain storm that day. A biting cold rain too. It rained so hard at times you could barely see the players on the field. It ended up being a 6-0 barn burner. I was so miserable I swore off going to games later than October in cold weather places.
