Re: A question for all Redskins fans.....

Tweek the secondary, add another LB, a tall WR, a Tackle and we will a threat.
RGIII has to be 110% before he steps on the field and WE MUST dial down the QB runs.

Did you read my entire post or just the part about Kirk Cousins? Morris will be the lending support. But It will ultimately come down to the QB's play ability.

With that said, I see no reason why coaches wouldn't put the game in Kirks hands just as they did RG3 or the way SF have put the game in Colin Kaepernicks. You are way to hung up on RG3.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Our offense already is a threat, without adding a tall WR, and we have some OL talent that we are training. I don't know how you define tweak, but if by tweak you mean a complete revamping of the Safety positions and add at least depth and probably a starter at corner, then I agree with you.

LB, I might be in the minority, but I like our LB's, I think Riley takes even another step in 2013, and our other guys all move one notch up, letting Fletcher play less snaps as needed to keep him healthy (if he doesn't retire).

I am very optimistic for the future. I think in 2013 we will go 12-4, have a playoff bye, and go to the NFC championship game. And I stand by this prediction even if Gryphon is not ready for the beginning of the season.

Huzzah!

Re: A question for all Redskins fans.....

I think we now know the weak areas of the team and will improve them. Secondary and RT will likely be addressed. We're getting some good players back from injury: Orakpo, Helu, Davis, Carriker, Nield, K. Robinson, Meriweather hopefully and even some prospects like Chase Minnifield and Jordan Bernstine. Garcon SHOULD have his foot issue completely behind him by then.

Even if RGIII misses a month, we'll be fine with Cousins. The NFL is putting a lot of division games at the end of the season, so we'll have Griffin back for those.

We have a few key areas of weakness to address and I'm confident that Allen and Shanahan will be able to recognize and fill those spots with good players. The drafts since these two have taken over have been incredibly successful, amazing really how we've done so much with so little. Draft day is so exciting in the past few years, not frustrating like they used to be.

We should repeat as division champs. We're the only team in the NFC East who isn't in a decline. Our future is bright.

Kirk comes in and plays stron winning 4 of 5 before RGIII is ready to go. We go 10-6 and deep inti the playoffs. Kirk's stock jumps and we trade him for some nice draft pics.

Re: A question for all Redskins fans.....

Our season this year was a tale of two halves. The first half, the close ones got away from us, the second half the close ones went our way. Sometimes a team is a little better or worse than its record; this year our record was a good reflection of our team.

So, what differences next season will affect our success?

1. Injuries. This year we were one of the most injured teams in the league, particularly our defense. A healthier defense would make this team at least two wins stronger. The loss of Garcon greatly affected our ability to score, and subsequently the Redskins didn't win many games when he was out. On the other hand, we can't expect our offensive line to be as healthy next year. And of course, there's the matter of RGIII. If we had to guess, I'd say we'd have to worry more about injuries next year because of RGIII's surgery. That being said, I think we'll have to take wins off the board considering injuries.

2. Schedule- Could be a wash; we'll have a first place schedule instead of a last place schedule which will make it harder. On the other hand, the AFC opponents are coming out of the west instead of the North, which will benefit us. As far as our division opponents, who can say? I don't expect the Giants to improve, however the Eagles are a talented club. Who knows? Schedule- a wash.

3. Roster- unlikely that any draft picks will immediately help the team, since we don't have a high pick. Could add depth, but that would only be if injuries were a problem. Age isn't really a problem, with the obvious exception of Fletcher. Free agency isn't going to help much considering out cap restrictions. A slight addition to the secondary could make a marked difference however, and I'm optimistic we can do something on that front. (Though it is worth noted that during our winning streak, the secondary played very well). Overall, I see this as a slight advantage to the Redskins

4. RGIII experience- look, we all know the importance of RGIII. So how much we he grow in his second year? A better question might be to what extent will opposing defenses better prepare for what they will be facing? Look, this off-season every defensive coach in the league will be making it a priority to figure out ways to limit RGIII, Wilson, Kaepernick, Cam Newton, etc. I think we'll see some big improvements. I anticipate we will see some regression on this front as defenses advance more quickly then the QBs.

Altogether, the Skins could reasonably be better, they could reasonably be worse. If we were to draw parameters, I think we could say that the Redskins will win between 8 and 12 games this year; the big difference is RGIII's health. I'd put the win total for next season at 9.

Re: A question for all Redskins fans.....

One big factor next year, that helped us this year, was turnovers. I believe Griffin had 8 fumbles but only lost 1 or two. Our defense scored several times and/or put our offense on very short fields. Next year we probably won't have as many - just on law of averages - so our on field play (offense and defense) will need to step up a bit in other areas, most notably 3rd down execution.

I keep hearing how defensive coordinators will figure out how to defense our scheme in the off season and how that will be a negative for our prospects in 2013.

I submit that our offensive gurus will not be resting on their laurels and will develop schemes the other guys haven't seen yet. So I don't buy the gloom and doom of our offense being "figured out" somehow. I think by the end of next season teams will be trying to copy our defense once again, à la DirtyBirds and 49ers, and we will continue to be in the driver's seat.

With the Wilson/Kapernick adulation the media seem to have put us on the back burner. I say good -- we'll be on their front burner again soon enough... It's amazing to think that we were but one Ngata hit away from making it to the Super Bowl. Good times are here to stay!

Not really, I believe both QB's are capable and can run the offense effectively without the help of the coaches babying. I just believe Cousins has the ability to last the whole season where RG3 can't.

If you want to hang onto RG3 after what you have seen this season thats fine, I'll save myself the disappointment. Its not just the Knee injury but the concussion as well. The guy is just not gonna last IMO. I wish I was wrong, but Im not.

In any case my original point was the Redskins can win with either QB.
