Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread 2.0

When you have 2 bad CBs people like to pick on the worst CB of the week which tended to be DHall but Josh just wasn't that good. People were saying "he's our best CB.." Well the best way to say it is "sh!t is sh!t no matter how bad it smells or looks." All our secondary was god awful last year, people were just trying to find the bright spots or occasional signs of hope.

I thought Wilson was inconsistent - as was DHall. How much of that was due to bad, just bad, safety play, I don't really know. I think Wilson needs good safety support and, with it, he is a solid No.2 CB. Nothing more, nothing less. Without it, he really has neither the skills nor the physique to work in isolation.

Cutting Wilson creates a hole in the roster which, before this year, they really couldn't replace. This may be the year they think that they have guys who can provide what he does but with better upside.

I am not going to excuse the bad secondary last year, but it also doesn't help the back end of the defense when the QB has 8 seconds to throw.

With our new additions and te return of our pass rushing OLBs we will be much better this year.

What ever the staff decides to do with the CB position an safety position is good with me. I don't know see enough of what these guys are doing to make any decisions about the roster.

If Merriweather's injury problems continue I could defiantly see T. Jackson coming back and place Merriweather on IR or cut.

Jackson is FS and Merriweather is SS, I think Doughty will take over the spot if Merriweather isn't able to play unless Thomas can speed up his learning process.

I don't see Redskins cutting Wilson because we don't know what we will get from our young CBs yet. But I'm glad to see Rambo locking down on #1 spot already, he must have had some good practices.

If T Jax comes back and Merriweather has a hiccup with that knee, I could see them sliding T Jax to SS and playing Rambo at free.

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread 2.0

Wilson is not a lock down corner, he will need safety help, especially when there's not much of a pass rush to disrupt the passer. He had neither supporting him last year. If you don't have the right pieces on defense to support him he'll be exposed. The year before last he was OK, he didn't just suddenly get worse.

He is a serviceable starting CB. I hope Amerson overtakes either him or Hall, because that would be a sign that the rookie is for real, but still cutting Wilson now would be a serious blow to our secondary depth.

Based on reports so far it sounds like Amerson winning a starting job isn't that crazy of an idea. Let's hope it happens, Wilson has been pretty ho-hum as a starter for us.

Maybe few games later - Jackson haven't play football for a while. I would be shocked if Jackson becomes starter immediately after coming back.

To bad D Hall wasn't the worse, or that statement would of made sense.

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread 2.0

I don't see Wilson being cut prior to the season but I can see him as a backup by October. Reports on Amerson is that he's looking good, making some typical rookie mistakes but isn't too far away from making a run at a starting gig. Biggers was brought in to be a nickel back and has had some success in the past in that role. Wilson could soon be a 4th corner/special teamer.
