Re: nfl network
opinions are like backsides, everybody's got one. these guys are just slinging it from hip without any real in depth understanding of what the heck they are talking about. sometimes it just comes down to them likeing to hear themselves talk. coles had to go, showing his rear end the way he did like a little baby shows he's not reay to be the guy. with moss it reamins to be seen. but as you all have in one way or another said it is better to have a man who wants to be here than aman who doesn't.

Re: nfl network
How would he know if it was a bust before the season even starts. If he thinks the Redskins got a bad deal I would have to agree but our options were very few.

It's funny how Parcells gets LESS criticism than Joe, when Parcells is in his SECOND year in the NFL with an identical record to Gibbs who is in his FIRST year. Give Gibbs a break, he needs a chance to get his bearings on the game, and get the personnel he wants in place to fit his system. Parcell's has also made bad moves with his personnel--ie Vinny instead of developing a younger QB , and Eddie George was a bust too. They made one good draft choice in Julius Jones, but I haven't heard of any other pick panning out. Yet the media won't say a bad word about "ST." Parcells......... Gibbs gets all the criticism, media just hates us, I don't know if it's because of our media perceived "unpolitically correct name", or hatred of our front office.....and it's not just Snyder....they did not much like The Squire either.

Jimmy Johnson was quick to point out coaches like Vermeil, Parcells, Marty, etc., and of course Bradshaw just shrugged his shoulders and didn't have much to say. |

Re: nfl network
Talking about changing minds, I remember Jimmy Johnson saying he thought the game had passed Joe Gibbs by as well....the thing with Vermeil, Parcells, and Marty must had been an after thought. It's no secret that the media has hounded Joe Gibbs from day one, anybody who can't see that has been living under a rock this past season. The only ones I have noticed that have not given up faith in Gibbs are his ex-players and his coaching friends in the NFL that are closest to him.

Re: nfl network
While there has been many varied opinions relative to the return of Joe Gibbs to the Redskins, for some odd reason we seem to always as a franchise fall victum to some form of irresponsible journalism in one venue or another.
Despite our 6-10 record last year I'm convinced of the fact Gibbs did as well as one could honestly expect having been away for 11 years and not knowing his personell to the extent he does now. I never thought it would be fair to Gibbs if we truly expected him to make the team an instant winner in one season. I have the utmost confidence in what Gibbs brings to this franchise and if we exhibit the faith, and patience we need he will get it done. Forget all those nay-sayers. They all envy our potential for success. We will be winners in 05 and you can take that to the bank!!! |

Re: nfl network
Let me see if I have this right. The guys on TV who actually played professional football at one time in their life are just winging it and have no particular expertise - - compared to people who post opinions here.
Am I missing something? Someone also said that everyone criticizes the Coles/Moss situation but offers no constructive suggestions about what should have been done. Not true; I offered an idea about that more than a month ago. Once it became absolutely clear that the Redskins did not want Coles back with them, they should have cut their losses and accpeted his offer to forget his $5M roster bonus in exchange for an outright release. I thought then - and I continue to think now - that the added flexibility that it would have given the Skins with regard to the salary cap would be worth more than Santana Moss will be worth. And remember, Moss is not going to remain a "bargain priced WR" for very long! There's my suggestion; it hasn't changed in a month. The Skins had a time when they could have done it but they didn't. Whatever... And yes, that's just my opinion so it doesn't make it right, but it does demonstrate that some people actually did have concrete suggestions about how the situation might have turned out better.

Re: nfl network
if the skins would have let coles leave and in return got 5 mil. towards the cap , they still would have been criticized. it was a lose lose situation , as far as getting criticized. if and i stress IF santana moss has a good season and the skins improve their win, loss record by 3 or more wins, then these same critics will be praising the trade of coles for moss. especially if coles struggles.
