Re: Redskins release center Will Montgomery

Cutting Monty saves us $1.9M while cutting Lichtensteiger would have saved $1.1M.

Lichtensteiger is also 3 yrs younger, something to keep in mind.

This move probably would have happened last year if LeRibeus had his act together.

No surprise, was expected to happen.

The line needs to evolve, expect more changes IMO.

Good thing for LeRibeus he still has a chance to salvage things if he shows up ready to grind.

I always liked Monty and wish him well.

I think it was Cooley who said Monty had a tough time calling line blocks and picking up blitzes last year. Maybe that played into the decision.

We definitely need to improve the o-line play, so hopefully this move helps some.

Monty, Lich and Polumbus....they're simply not 16 game starters. They're solid backups. That's why we get abused every time we play tough physical defenses. Not sure if this guy from Clev is any better but we have to get more sturdy in the trenches.

What is the significance of the "failed physical" designation given Will Montgomery ?

You have to really question the character of a person who, immersed in a culture of fitness and athleticism, simply ignores all around him and does nothing to maintain the necessary conditioning to do his damn job. How can Ribeye NOT be in shape? Haynesworth I get..."I got paid so now I don't have to work". But josh is a 3rd round G who hadn't done squat and has not been paid. Is there anything that motivates him? Maybe if they convinced him the dlinemen he's blocking ate his Twinkie.

Heard Cooley say that the physical was the end of season physical. Apparently it's not very thorough, like you can say you're fine and you're on your way. Sounds fishy but cleaning house on the OL is fine by me.

Agreed. You have to show up to work ready to play. I mean, if I showed up drunk to work on my first day (or any day for that matter) I'd be fired quicker than Cerrato can blow the cap in one FA signing.

There's certainly a guard spot available for someone to win.

They're going to have to address the line in the draft. They need two players over the next two years. Wouldn't shock me if they took two in this draft.
