As do I. The dude makes the hard catches and sets a great example. He had a couple of Tds last year where he got obliterated after the catch and hung on. He's not that far removed from a 113 catch season, for crying out loud. Let's not peg Doctson his successor just yet - the guy hasn't played an NFL snap.

Need to keep Garcon because Jackson will go down in week three with a pulled fukmuscle or some such malady.

Malady? Don't know why that word made me laugh. Reminds me of this:

Re: Redskins release wrote Andre Roberts
I'm disappointed that Roberts never worked out. I thought he had a real opportunity to step up, but he just never progressed. I like that our WR corps has depth and talent enought to let go of guys for production. To that end, letting Garcon go to save a bit on cap is hopefully not the way the FO is thinking anymore. Garcon isn't flashy like DJax, and I think he's not that #1 guy, but he definitely provides a threat every down that defenses have to account for.

Re: Redskins release WR Andre Roberts
If nothing else, I was hoping ( after all the drops that Roberts was making ) that we at least had a return guy. To quote fight Club "no matter what happens, at least I have that couch thing covered." But then he showed no promise on special teams.
I think garcon is worth the money he was paid. He has made some mistakes, but even the best recievers drop an occasional pass. It happens. I'd love if we could renegotiate with him next year and pay a little less, but keep him here so he can celebrate a lombardi. Glad Roberts was sent, though. He was a pretty disappointing free agent.

Interesting point. I think it depends on how fast Doctson can come along. If he kills it in camp then I wouldn't be surprised. But I just think you hold on to Garcon because of the intangibles he brings to the table. He's still a good football player and we're just not in the position to be cutting good players.

Roberts was just a awful, terrible signing. What were they thinking?

Roberts had plenty of opportunities to contribute. He did not help at all.

Redskins release WR Andre Roberts
A little clarity regarding the cap, aka we don't need to cut Garçon.
According to www.OvertheCap.com the Redskins had $1.2 million in 2016 cap space prior to the Roberts move. If the June 1 designation was used, at the start of next month they will gain the $4 million from Roberts. They already are slated to add $8 million in cap space due to the release of Chris Culliver with a June 1 designation. That will send them into the summer with $13.2 million in cap space. http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/washin...rong-beginning Last edited by MTK; 05-17-2016 at 03:49 PM. |

Re: Redskins release WR Andre Roberts
Why would we cut Garcon by training camp? That's just as ridiculous as my dreams on tequila!
But what's not ridiculous is seeing Roberts cut. I still think he can be serviceable somewhere else, but he just didn't make it in D.C.
