Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
Our defense is really weak at the line of scrimmage, and up the middle. Running back position is really bad. We've gotten some big strengths, but also some really weak positions.
I think 500 would be good with our schedule, so 8-8.

We beat the browns, lions, ravens, vikings, and bears. We go atleast 4-2 in the division. Steal just one - maybe Pitt at home in a fired up atmosphere - and thats ten.

Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
Our defense is better (younger), offense is better (lots of depth) KC is better, running game will surprise (Marshall was at one time a 5 star recruit).

I'm a little surprised so many don't seem to think we can improve on last year.

Im thinking it is mainly our schedule. It is brutal. That being said we have improved. I do not know enough about every team we play. Maybe some of last years better teams take a step back. |

I don't get too caught up in the schedule. There are teams on there now that won't live up to expectations, and there are teams that will surprise you, and it all depends on when you play a team, they can be hot or cold depending on the week.

Could not agree more. Injuries? Suspensions? Bell is gone for our first game. That definitely tips the scales. Just saying that our schedule is probably 85 % the reason for the boards lack of faith. Other 15% probably due to our last 20 years or so of pre-season dreams turning to nightmares. Lol. |

Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
Bunch of debbie downers up in this piece. We've got a QB on the rise and plenty of weapons. As long as the D is middle of the pack I think we've got a real shot at repeating as division champs and making some noise in the playoffs.

Philly is a fucking beautiful trainwreck...Dallas defense is terrible with a QB out of his prime, and the Giants have flipped a roster with a first time head coach....I like our chances.

. . . tough call . . . before Gillette injury (and i can't stand him) would have said 9 - 7 to 10 - 6 . . . now i am leaning towards one more loss at 9 - 7 or 8 - 8 . . . and while i don't put too much stock in strength of schedule, our this year is brutal . . . and there are some teams on it that we KNOW will be damn good (Arizona, Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay will be tough this year no matter how you look at it unless some crazy shit happens)

Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
The schedule is tough this year, but I think we are a tougher team than last year. The overall defense IS improved based on the upgrades in the secondary, as well as the development of Preston Smith and Chris Baker. Is it the 85 Bears? Hell no, but the offense has so many weapons that I don't think we need a Top 5 defense. I believe the defense will be much better than these "experts" are predicting. The offense should scare every defense we face. I think the tandem of Matt Jones and Keith Marshall could surprise alot of people this year. I'm not sleeping on Chris Thompson either, I love what he brings to the passing game.
Most pre-season predictions have the Cowboys winning the division, stating the offense is good enough to overcome their porous defense. Conversely they're saying the Redskins offense, while good, isn't good enough to overcome their defensive issues. I would argue the Redskins offense will be every bit as good as Dallas and if you think the Redskins defense isn't better than Dallas, well, I'd say you probably are smoking some pretty good stuff. 10-6, Division Champs.

Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
First preseason game hopes:
On offense, starters look good enough and get one or two long drives. On defense, some good run stops and NO long drives - a three and out would be nice. After that, just hoping to get a good look at some of the guys we have been hearing about - would like to see Cravens making good plays against 2nd stringers. Same with Spaight at ILB. Most very super important thing: NO INJURIES

Re: Skins Pre-Preseason Prediction Posts
We have a QB who is starting to operate in the offense very quickly, getting us into the right checks at the line. He's not great, but the talent around him is very impressive, and the coaches are good enough to put him in position to succeed.
I think our secondary play will be better this year. And I think Matt Jones is going to show out. Brandon Scherff is going to develop into a genuine run blocking strength, and we'll grind out 4.0 yards per carry, despite center being a bit of a weakness. We'll still be vulnerable against the run, and we'll still have only two consistent pass rush threats. 10-6, with a shot at winning a playoff game
