Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

Best wishes to Alex.

I really hope the team doesn't say an F'n word to try to shame him out of his money.

I would be pleasantly surprised if there were no leaks or a McLovin-like media campaign against paying him fully his due.

This picture makes me go 100% QB in the first round now. Unless we get Nick Foles to come

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

It does not make sense for Alex to risk his future ability to walk normally....for what? He already is wealthy.
But the biggest hurdle for Alex is he will be 35 competing against world class young NFL athletes. The risk/reward is not favoring Alex coming back to get sacked more.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

Ya'll really wanna commit 40+ mil to 2 qb's knowing one can't play?

It's draft or bust. Good article Irrefutable, if that former NFL doc is right we need to be exploring all available options this offseason. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

At this point just hoping Alex can walk normal without pain the rest of his life. I think chances of him returning to play are slim and none.

What about a trade for Wentz. He fits our profile to a tee. High upside, often injured, possible attitude issue.

I’m not buying into the last part

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

The physician in the SD Tribune article is a great source. Alex's hope of being able to play again - ever - rests on whether or not he will need a free flap graft.

When they had to remove the infected tissue around the broken bone, they may have had to take muscle with it. If that's the case it means he will have lost at least some level of movement function in the leg, and they will come in with a flap graft to make it look normal again, but it won't function normally again.

If he has a free flap graft, he will probably walk with a limp the rest of his life and will not be able to play football again. Alex and his doctors likely already know whether he will need one or not. Stay tuned for that piece of info in the coming months.

Agree with those who've commented thus far, the Skins have to look at Alex as virtually retired.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

There is ZERO and I mean less than ZERO % chance Wentz is moved let alone to The skins. We are going to draft a rookie QB folks, there is no other way out. Sighing a Tyrod or a Teddy B. Etc is just a stopgap move. I'd be willing to Draft Grier and then sigh a vet to start the season.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

lol...trading for Wentz.

if we going there, why not trade for Aaron Rodgers, Todd Gurley, JJ Watt, Bill Belichek, lets resurrect Jack Kent Cooke from the dead to buy the team back, etc.

I’d be cool with all this. Let’s get Chip Lohmiller back too. Off the stone guy.

Re: Alex Smith released from hospital

The Eagles would never be stupid enough to trade Wentz to the Redskins. But I do believe there is some rumblings about how he runs the offense. You didn't see any of the wr's come to his defense did you? The offense at least from what I've seen runs smoother when Foles is in there. He spreads the ball around where Wentz just throws to his buddy.

But we're not getting either, as everyone has said it's draft or bust for us. We gotta get someone on a rookie deal and hope he beats out Colt and maybe another vet. I wouldn't even be mad if we drafted two QB's, one early and another in the later rounds.

From Doctor Salene Parekh @ Duke University

"This is called an external fixator. Used in setting of infection, soft tissue concern, lack of hardware. Usually more stiff afterwards. IMO 8-12 months RTP and career threatening"

Yeah.. his career is over
