Re: Positive out of this major Negative
I like especially how Clinton is acting this offseason. He's being a real class act.

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
i heard that the reason portis settled it is because if portis had gone through with the trial it would've cost him like 38k even if he had won, which is a lot more than 20k. other than that portis has been a good leader this offseason, he's been here from the start of everything this offseason, he's being more vocal in the locker room, and he's stepping up his leadership role.

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
I hope he thought about how nice it would be to not have a "Portis goes to court" headline. He owed Iffy the money. He could have waited him out, but he didn't, he instead decided he didn't want to wait and bought him out. The fact that Iffy got cut doesn't matter.
Also, I would like to submit that this emotion name be changed from SmashFreakB to "SeanTaylorsRevenge" :smashfrea

It's kind of funny though...if Portis had just accepted another number and been paitent, he could have eventually gotten the number for free.

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
i don't think trojans and canes like each other very much... players from both alma maters probably believe their schools are the best in cfb, and it probably carries over to the nfl.

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
I don't like the actions that the skins are taking with this Taylor situation. I feel they should be more supportive and help this player in his time of need, to show him where his loyalties should lie. I would have like to seen the skins to respond to this situation like the Ravens did with Jamal Lewis, and Ray Lewis. They showed support and didn' t come off judgementive or like they were turning their back on them. This action payed off in major dividends in their reputation and class of the organization.
Forgiveness is devine and Gibss should follow suit. If I was Gibbs I would go out there to miami and show support, talk to him let him know that the team will help as much as possible. That action would have a major positive effect on Taylor. The way they are acting now, shows to me there may be truth in what Arrington said earlier when he blew up

They've excused him from the rest of the offseason activities so he can get his act together. Taylor himself hasn't shown much support to the organization, so under the circumstances I think the team has acted accordingly. Should Gibbs have flown down and bailed him out? The guy won't even return the coach's phone calls. |

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
I can't think of any better support for a player than to give him permission from offseason activities.
Like Matty said, what type of behavior has Taylor exhibited that would call for him to demand "support" from his team? I'm sorry, but if my own brother shot at somebody for stealing his car, I'd tell him that he deserves what's coming to him. Why throw this at Joe Gibbs door step? Was he not right in saying that if Taylor had shown up at the voluntary work-outs and mini-camps that he probably would have avoided this trouble?

Maybe if Taylor returned a few of the coach's friggin' calls Gibb's would have an opportunity to be supportive. You don't think that Gibb's should have expressed dissapointment over the fact that Sean never showed up to the OTA's and wouldn't return his calls? And since this latest fiasco, it seems to me that the organization has bent over backward to show support for Sean, to the point that I fear they may be coddling him too much. --Phin |

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
The skins didn't do much of anything... excuse his absence, does that even matter in his current situation? if he went to practice, he would be acused of fleeing the state of Florida and be promply arrested. Do we even know if Gibbs or anyone else in the front office contacted him since the Arrest? I'm not calling for them to save him, but I do feel that the team should state that they are publicly their for support.
They aren't gonna release him or trade him, & they have a 7 year investment in the guy. Gibbs and the front office can jump on a flight with the quickness to try to get Courtney Brown unsuccessfully, but noone is expendible to take one day to support the starting free safety. Snyder could pay anyone, hell I'll fly over to Miami, to show that the skins have his back.

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
It would be nice to see Gibbs fly down to Florida to try to "reach" Sean Taylor (knock the snot out of him). Perhaps, by being the bigger man and reaching out to Sean during his moment of weakness, Gibbs could develop a good rapport with Sean that could be useful if Sean ever gets himself out of this mess.
However, Gibbs has more important things to do and I doubt that the coach could actually "reach" Taylor. PS - I don't think the FO has been screaming from the rooftops its support of ST, but I don't think they've abandoned him or done anything wrong. |

Re: Positive out of this major Negative
Well,
It has just been reported on the NFL network that it was determined that Sean Taylor DID NOT fire a gun at anyone. They said the Washington Post is reporting that Taylor may have been a victim in this and was fired upon - however that part of the investigation is unconfirmed. Sounds much better for Sean! Now he needs to get his butt into training camp!
