Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
If I'm Rivera I'm feeling pretty good about the backup QB position assuming Allen and Heinicke both want to be back, but they have to be aggressive in adding a true QB1.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
Yes I want this to be the plan. Although we also need to be prepared for the worst case scenario since the QB free agency is limited and we are not in a position to draft one of the top rookie QBs. If we cannot find a new #1 QB which means we might need to roll with Allen or Heinicke as starter next year.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
We don't have the capital for Watson but I'd be all in on that.. He also wants to go to Miami per reports.
My guy is Stafford, I'd offer our 2nd round pick for him as well. https://sportsinjurypredictor.com/pl...hew-stafford/2

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
Heinicke is a winner! Not even in the NFL a month ago , not bulked up and with almost NO game experience he has a phenomenal game! Sign him up NOW.
He’s either a GREAT BACKUP and/or he competes for the starter job! He will need to bulk up to survive a full season. Uber-intelligent QB, who has excellent mobility, KEEP HIM! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He seems like a really good football player that might not have the measurables. Even if his ceiling is Colt McCoy, we desperately need a solid QB even as a back. |

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
He's earned the right not only to have a back up spot but to compete for the starting job IMO. Bring in a proven vet though, of course. I'd like a Mariota, Tyrod Taylor, or a Fitzpatrick, I'd like it to be a true QB competition. Of course if you can get a Watson or Stafford that's great but it'll be expensive.

How is everyone saying his ceiling is Colt McCoy. Based on five quarters it is clearly higher. Again im not saying he is the quarterback of the future but he might be. He has been fighting this doubt his whole career. Which is to be expected when you come out of Old Dominion. He has had two starts since being an undrafted fa. Two. One was awesome. He has earned the right to fight to be the starter. Not just a backup. Anyway time will tell but im rooting for this guy to stay healthy and be our quarterback going forward with more of a grasp of the system and more weapons around him including a run game. What i saw the other night was not a fluke. No way. |

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
I really like TH. At the very least he has earned an offer to come back and compete next year. I'm not going to say that he isn't built to withstand the rigors of an NFL season, especially if he has an offseason with the team / trainers, but I am a little concerned about his durability given his style of play. Anyway, he definitely has to be considered. Coming off the street, he looked better than all three of the other QBs that started a game this year.
I'm not opposed to see if Kyle Allen wants to come back and compete, but personally I wouldn't bring him back. That was a pretty good injury he suffered, and it appears that TH is better; and I don't see either of them being the long term starter. I say wash your hands of Kyle Allen, bring back TH, sign a Veteran QB, draft a QB, and have a fierce competition for QB1, QB2, and QB3. |

Definitely concerned with his durability, but at the least he's earned the right to compete in camp. Long term I'm not confident in his ability to stay healthy though, which is the #1 thing you need at this level. Think Brady said it best, the most valuable thing you can offer your team is being available. I don't mind that he plays balls out, but if playing balls out means he misses time often than it won't work out.
I still think Ron is going to go after someone this offseason.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
I can remember a time when we could have said, "F***** RG3". So I think we need to let the dust settle a bit. It was one game. RG3 played an entire year at a very high level. But once NFL D coordinators have had whole off season to review tape and plan, the next chapter may not be so bright.
Clearly Heineke has earned the right to be brought back to compete for No. 1 QB next year. But beyond that, I think we need to wait and see what happens. |
