Re: Season over?

I would feel alot worse about the rest of the season if I really thought we showed up to play today. Make no mistake about it, if this team just dosent show up to any other game this year, they will get their asses whooped just like they did today. I really dont think today was a refelction at all of how we are as a team. Honestly, I cant really take anything from this game, because I just dont think that was the Washington Redskins out there. I think we'll be able to get a better grip on the rest of the season after next weeks game against Philadelphia.

Well, I certainly don't think the Xmas-eve match-up will be a walk-over. It is 8 weeks away and that is an eternity in football. Today's win was great, a great atmosphere at the stadium, a great tribute to Wellington Mara, his granddaughter sang the national anthem. She is cute, looks like Nieve Campbell and the girl can sing, his other grandchildren were on the field with her. The Offense and defense looked like well-oiled machines today. Those of you who remember me from the old days know I am not want to savior victories for too long. I'll enjoy reading the papers tomorrow and talking about the game with my students, but by tomorrow afternoon I am thinking about San Francisco.

As for the skins, it's games like this that test the leadership and heart of a team. A good team looks at the films, gets disgusted, learns from it, and comes out hungry. A bad team feels sorry for themselves and continues to glow in the San Fran game. Either way, this could be a turning point for the club. They get back to work and put together a good season, or they completely go in the tank. As for blame, look at your lines. The Giants were only rushing 4 most of the day and still got to Brunnell and Ramsey, and Tiki cut through the D line like a hot knife through butter.

Re: Season over?

Today was as pathetic as it gets, but over? Come on...nothing is over. As bad as it was when you boil it down it was one road game within the division. We are not supposed to win all the road division games. I think the issue is more the way they played...but one loss is still only one loss whether it's by 1 point or 101 points. Even if they lose next week it's still not over...

I loved the play calling in the Denver, Kansas City and San Francisco games and I expect this team to be well-grounded after this loss.
Even without the turnovers, the skins still lose convincingly. 36 points? No. But the Giants were having no trouble moving the ball and the skins did nothing on offense when they could hold onto it.

Hate to say it, but I agree. This wasent like last year, when we turned the ball over but still put up a fight from start to finish. To me, from the start of the game you could just tell the skins werent in it. Even without the turnovers, I dont think we would have won today. Or even come that close for that matter.

Re: Season over?

Have not voted yet, still sitting on the fence, but that game was reminiscent of the infamous 'Body-bag' Game against the Eagles. Although I think that Redskins team had more heart for I remember Brian Mitchell lining up at QB and tanking direct snaps for runs and I think they at least managed to score. This was a bad game...now the whole team needs to listen up to the coaching staff...should be an interesting week of practice, at least for those physically able to practice.

Re: Season over?

If this would have happen in week 12, it wouldn't really matter, one let down that late in the season, but in week 7, the season is going to be a wash....look at the record 4-3, next week Philly, which is a team that dont run, but trust me, Andy Reid is thinking were gone run the ball, and we stunk up against the 31st ranked D........if we walk away with 8 wins we will be lucky...........Playoffs?...I hope no one said Playoffs

Re: Season over?

The season is far from over. Yeah we looked horrible today. How we come out next week will tell alot about where we are as a team. We have shown that we can play good sound ball. We just need to stop evaluate what happened and correct our mistakes and go forward and beat the Eagles. Then worry about the next game. If the skins start playing for the playoffs now it will be over we need to take one game at a time and forget all the games in the past.

Re: Season over?

Far from over. Things change from week to week. Tampa lost to the 49'ers today. This league is crazy. We're better than 36-0 and everyone here knows it. I think we will see a much better effort next week. Doesn't mean we'll win, but it will be a much better effort.

Re: Season over?

I believe there are 10 games left to the season, including games against every NFC East team at home at FedEx. The Skins are 1-1 in the division. So, the East title is within reach. The wild card can be had with a 9-7 record.

Throw out BOTH the Giant game and the 49er game because the Redskins ain't THAT good and they ain't THAT bad.

Settle down Redskins. Go out and make the play!

Re: Season over?

it was so bad i have no idea what went wrong... turnovers, but that's nto enough... brunell throwing us vintage from last year... nagging injuries... still, 36 points down?

i'm hoping this is a one time thing.

Re: Season over?

How can it be over when we still got games to play?

We may have lost a terrible game....but there are 9 more games to play, that's plenty. Now, If we go on like a four or five game losing streak....then it may be time to call it quits for this season....

Re: Season over?

I voted no, but after how the team had seemed to come together since the last 4 minutes of the cowboy game, this game was extremely depressing and frustrating to watch. Why in the hell can't the defense stop the run outside the tackle box? All the missed tackles, the dropped passes, and the piss poor protection brought back frightening memories from the Turner/Schott./Spurrier regimes just when the team was making incredible strides to gaining respect again. The season is not lost if they rebound against the Eagles cuz this could and should ignite an inferno under the skins but it could also easily prove a crushing blow, the next couple weeks will show us which. All facets of the game were terrible today and they definitely have an ass load of tape to review, but I'm glad Ramsey didn't do much cuz if a qb controversy came out of a game like this then the season would definitely be screwed. I hope to high heaven that Gibbs and Co absolutely tear into every single player who saw action today and get them ready to exploit all of the weaknesses of the Eagles that the Broncos took advantage of today. I believe the team can bounce back from this and if this team finally plays with a bit of an attitude, we could see the team we've been hoping to see since Gibbs version 1.
