Re: Taylor Jacobs

The mantra of this coaching staff is that you have to earn your way back. He was hurt in preseason, lost his job (at least he was competing for a number two or three), and now has to earn it back over Patten or Thrash. Sounds a whole lot like another guy we all know on the defense...

Re: Taylor Jacobs

Southpaw's right, I'm surprised he keeps making the team. He's always hurt in the preseason and his potential, unrealized as it may be, gets him onto the team. I would have liked to have seen Kevin Farris on the team ahead of him. Farris had a good preseason and I really didn't see much from Jacobs, he just keeps making the team because he "could" be a good receiver. At what point does the coaching staff decide that he either becomes a good receiver or becomes a free agent.

Re: Taylor Jacobs

Maybe we could trade him to the Eagles. I hear they are looking for a WR. He could be reunited with his buddy Mccan't.

Re: Taylor Jacobs

I am satisfied with our recievers for right now. Next year I would love for us to make a serious run for Brandon Lloyd of the 49ers, he'll be a free agent.Release Jacobs and draft Santana's bro.

If that rumor of Ramsey to the Jets is true, that would be awesome for our defense and would plug some holes in our front four. then I'd spend the rest of the draft on depth at key positions. I'd also cut walt Harris ~ he sucks!

Jacobs doesn't get the playing time to develop into something of value

Re: Taylor Jacobs

If the Jets trade John Abraham for Patrick Ramsey, they're on crack. I think the world of Patrick Ramsey, but Abraham, short of his operation shutdown in the playoffs, was one of the best pass rushers in the league last year. I don't see the Skins acquiring him for their backup quarterback.

Your saying Harris sucks based on one game, Eagles. possibly the Giants too, but everyone sucked then. Harris had been very good up until those games, making big tackles. Give him a few more games before you officially declare he sucks.

Re: Taylor Jacobs

gotta get on the field in order to make plays, and taylor jacobs hasnt done that. even patten and thrash havent seen the ball lately. its not like jacobs is out there dropping balls or something in the games, hes not got the game time yet. if he sucks when hes actually playing, then u have a case

Re: Taylor Jacobs

This is probably not for this thread, but I think we are going to need some guys down the streach to step up besides Moss and Cooley. However, it was nice to see the deep ball go to Patten in the Eagles game. He got interfered with, which lead to Seller's TD, but he was in good position to make that catch. At least he went deep and not Moss all the time. Is it me or does it seem like Cooley catches all of his ball on crossing routes or in the Flat? Moss catches the Slants and the once infamous, NOW famous WR screens. I think the Skins could exploit Moss's success by pump-faking to him and then throwing to Patten more.

Last week against the Eagles we may have seen the beginning of more involvement from Sellers.

The guy is a load in the open field.

Plus let's not forget about Portis who has become more involved in the passing game, and Betts had a nice catch last week too.

Maybe it's me but Harris has been worked more than a few times this year. Notice how every time they break a big run it's to his side? I don't think that's a coincidence.

I agree. Harris has been getting worked on his side. He constantly whiffs tackles, and I've noticed also that lately he's been playing really soft coverage giving the WR's all types of cushion. Personally, I think we're better off with Carlos Rogers starting opposite of Springs. He's a much, much better tackler than Harris. And seems to be tougher against the run.

Hasn't anyone noticed that Rogers has had some forced fumbles, but we've never recovered them.

I wonder if Harris is still feeling the effects of his quad injury. His tackling wasn't really an issue last season, during the preseason, or early this season.

Re: Taylor Jacobs

I'm loving these 5 WR sets. It's like Spurrier, but waaaaaaaay better.

Re: Taylor Jacobs

The problem with Spurrier is that he would do a 5 WR set but have LOOONG developing patterns, getting Ramsey sacked.
