Of course we don't know what "rest" means in this case, but it does sound like AH might be gettin over. He could be this year's Portis, I'm glad Shanny has stuck to his guns so far. |

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
It would be odd for a guy who ran the shuttle three times earlier in the week out of his own accord to suddenly just refuse to do it a few days later. The "bag of blubber" image is still in people's minds, no matter how wrong about it they could be.

Is Shanahan messing with him a little about the test? Probably. But Shanahan is so rules-based and exacting that I doubt that Shanny will relent any time soon and cut AH some slack if AH keeps failing the test. I hope that AH passes the test soon so this doesn't become another issue between him and Shanahan. I think he will. At his point, after two failures to pass the test, I'd like to think that AH has too much pride as an athlete to let the test beat him. BTW, having Haynesworth start out camp as a 2nd Teamer is a pure revenge move by Shanahan. After all, Trent Williams, a rookie who didn't know a thing about playing pro football, much les Shanahan's offense, practiced with the 1st Team on day one of his NFL career. Don't misunderstand me; I'm not shifting over to Haynesworth's side. I still think that he could have compromised with Shanahan and acted like a better teammate during the offseason. But I also like to think that I'm fair-minded enough to call bullshit on Shanahan, as well, when his actions start to look like they may be personal rather than professional. To be clear, Shanahan demoting Haynesworth to 2nd Team was personal and it is bullshit. |

If AH feels that Shanny is just f*&^ing with him, AH may just childishly refuse. And if AH really wants a trade, he may childishly refuse.

I don't have a problem with AH having to earn his spot back after the BS he put the team through all of the off-season. What kind of message would it send to the team if you skip all the off-season work, ask for a trade, and on day one of camp all is forgotten and you're lining up with the starters? |

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
A rest day at this point makes sense. I really don't think AH is pushing back.

Come on, Matty, you know it's ridiculous to have AH work on the 2nd Team. This isn't High School. Everyone knows who the starter is - Albert. So, the Skins have already paid him $32M to play behind Golston? Sure. OK, I'll concede that it may give the appearance of fairness but it's only for the sake of appearances. |

Albert Haynesworth has swelling in his knee, so he did not take conditioning test on Saturday. Uncertain if Haynesworth will take test Sun.

Haynesworth is a me-first, petulant little child, and I think he's definitely pushing back. With regard to the conditioning test stuff, he's already been quoted as saying "this is BS," and "I'm tired of this shit." Also, Mike Shanahan is stubborn to a fault. Neither parties are winning anything at this point.

What's ridiculous is the circus sideshow that AH was all off-season. Again, after all that you would just hand him his job back on day 1? Of course he's going to earn it back, but the point is you just don't hand the guy anything after the shit he pulled all off-season. |
