I dont know about anyone else, but is anyone else pumped about the possibility of finally having a spread offense in Washington. Thank you lord. I wouldn't be surprised if players like A. Robinson play well if kept. Imagine the possibility of Morris running against 6-7 man boxes. Instead of congesting the the field.

kinda cool...but...how does any of this solve our defensive problems....I mean our defense is a disaster...I think the bigger news would be if we somehow score a Wade Phillips or something.

Remember 4 years ago when Shanny and Allen were hired?
People were more pumped about finally having a GM than a Superbowl coach.
Why?...because it was more desperately needed.
I think after it is all said and done, the defensive fix (if there is one) will be the more impactful decision.

And maybe finally utilizing the backs in the passing game and running some draws to offset the pass rush.

Morris > the law firm, but Helu < Giovanni

Davis likely gone, but if not maybe we could finally see some 2 TE sets. I bet Gruden could get more out of Hankerson and Morgan than Shanny did. Shanny was too preoccupied with filling up his dog house.

Riggins would have never seen the field because he drank beer during the week.

Regardless of what styles of offenses this team uses or who the HC is, the defense has to change.......Jarvis Jenkins, Barry Cofield, Brian Orakpo, and Ryan Kerrigan would make a bad ass four man front....they are all natural 4-3 personnel......have Perry Riley Jr. as the MLB, Rob Jackson as ROLB and perhaps Brandon Jenkins as the LOLB......the secondary needs to be totally rebuilt....

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins

Jay and Haslett have worked together before. Can't blame haslett imo yet.. yet.. he had literally Kerrigan,Orakpo,Cofield, & Hall last year. We need so many improviments across the board its sad. Nobody showed me development thru the season it was depressing. We can't clean house but we have gap fillers and more fillers no real talent trust me we need some signings and have to find late rounders who pan out. Last year's draft was the Defensive jim Zorn Devin Thomas Malcolm Kelly draft.

Can anyone verify this:
Chris Russell ‏@Russellmania980 10m
Still don't get the hate for Haz. 2011 - 13th ranked D, 2012 - NFCE title, 2013 - 18th ranked D overall (7th in #NFL since Week 3) #Redskins

that may work on a novice fan

Points allowed rank:

2013: 31st, .01 away from worst in the league

2012: 28

2011: 13

2010: 21

Its strange how the more Haz/Shanny guys turned over on the roster, the more they struggled. Sorry folks, dont insult me by listing crap stats and then somehow trying to re write history saying Defense wasnt an issue. Haz is not a not a good DC, he is just as responsible for the skins record as Shanny. This isnt a case where the defense showed up and the offense never did. Please dont feed me that bullshit.

Special teams and the offense also contribute to points allowed.

What the hell?

NFL Stats: by Team Category

Haslett's D was tied for next to worst (#30) in giving up points in 2013. #18 ranked D in giving up yards.

For 2012, Haslett's D was tied for being ranked #20 in points given up. #28 ranked D in giving up yards.

For 2011, Haslett's D was ranked #21 in points given up. #13 ranked D in yards.

So Haslett's D was mediocre in 2011, and bad in 2012 and 2013. Sure, let's keep him on our staff! I don't understand the hate either! lol.

Is Chris Russel trolling, or what? Reminds me how how numbers are spun in politics: There's lies, damned lies, and statistics!

He's going by yards allowed which is most commonly used when talking about D rankings.

I think you use both, but you also use takeaways as well. Haz has done ok imo in that department.
