Browns owner Jimmy Haslam:

"Here in Cleveland, every where I go people know me, and I was out to dinner recently and a homeless person was out on the street, looked up at me and said 'Draft Manziel."

First, This could explain a lot about the Browns' problems at the QB position.

Second, I'm wondering if we have a homeless person advising our player personnel people. We need to stay current with NFL trends.

Third, I'd like to know if Haslam put a buck in the homeless man's tin cup. It would be tragic if Haslam is the kind of rich person who doesn't carry any currency.

There's something wrong with an organization when they treat ex-players this way.

Pettiness carrying over from the beef between him & Snyder.

Re: Paintrain's all encompassing 'discuss all things offseason' thread (Version 2.0)

I'm with Snyder 100% on this one.

Lavar's the most overpaid overhyped player in Skins history (and we've had a bunch). Snyder paid the guy tens of millions of dollars and he couldn't even play his position properly....freelancing dumbbell.

Luckily we drafted the anti-Lavar in the same draft (Samuels). Big mouth Lavar got all the hype and attention, while CS went about his business quietly and professionally. Not surprisingly CS was 10 times the player Lavar ever was.

When I see LA on NFLN I have to change the channel immediately, and in hindsight I feel bad that Aikman's career was ended prematurely by this dork.

It's time for DS to "get em".

^ I think that hatchet was buried long ago.

Probably just an uptight lawyer in the house. The team does have a valid point of him out there promoting himself using the team name and logo. Typically when players promote themselves it's a photoshopped image with no logos involved and the team name isn't mentioned.

Yeah I agree with you to some extent, but where is that line drawn?

I mean, often when their are speakers at events, or someone writing a book, or other such off-shoots from a person's previous career, they often refer to the companies they worked for in the past, and what they accomplished there. I don't know what the law is about this (do you need to ask permission first, can it be mentioned but just not used in ads, etc), but the NFL seems to get more uptight about their names and logos being used then other corporations.

I guess the line is drawn at not using the team logo and name in your promotional items, like the flier he was using here.
