Speaking of DMV. Why is the Department of Motor Vehicles called DMV all over the country...except in Maryland where it's the MVA (Motor Vehicle Administration)?

Re: What's your pet peeve?

I never liked the whole DMV thing weither but I've come to accept it. If you listen to 95.5 or 93.9 then you'll hear it about 500 times in 2 sentences so I feel like Ron Burgundy and I just say When in Rome.....

I'll tell you what my pet peeve is. When I get in the bathroom first and you still have to sit next to me and take your morning dook. WAIT LIKE I DID !!!! I mean come on,...I'm sitting there flushing like 40 times just so I can care about you every single time I have to fart or send a brown bomb to the ocean. F you guy next to me !

my man you know that a lot of us claim DC and the most appropriate way for it is that claim the DMV meaning the DC Metro area... ain't enough of DC area to really claim it especially as seeing where the stadium, etc, fans are

man we DMV.. most of us ain't in DC so if you wanna try to claim DC then go for it.. you gonna be lonely and plus the stadium ain't in DC anyways

I feel you. I'm from Landover near Seat Pleasant but let me be out of the state or the country and someone askes where I'm from, DC just rolls off the tongue. Then I can clarify with I'm not in DC but I live in such and such. Or I'll always use DC as the base point. That's just how it is. The reason I don't say Maryland is because people always assume that I'm from Baltimore, to which I always reply by pointing to my wife and saying, "She is, I'm not."

I'm pretty much the same way. I've lived my whole life in MD but I was born in DC, only because that's where my mom's doctor was stationed out of at the time. Sibley Hospital, holla!

Since I went to a MD state school most of the people were either from the DC area or the Baltimore area, so that's when I really started saying I'm from DC. It got worse once I moved to Baltimore a few years back.

Anyway, back to the thread: it's gotten to the point where I get completely enraged when I see people not using their turn signals. If I'm behind you and you signal that you're about to make a left on a busy road I know to slow down and prepare to stop; but if you don't signal I might just assume you're tapping your breaks but I have no idea you could completely stop in the middle of the road. I really hate other drivers.

Re: What's your pet peeve?

My new big pet peeve is OBX stickers on people's cars. I had a discussion about it on Facebook and jdlea had some good points, but I'm driving around and people actually have vanity plates with OBX in it (I've seen at least 6 just in my town, OBX4US, LUVOBX, etc.).

I'm like, "Does that make you better than normal people?"

I mean I've been to nice beaches before but I don't have Hawaii on my license plate.

For the longest time I thought OBX stood for some model of Oakleys.

All of those dumb white with black lettering oval stickers are stupid.

Worst then all that crap is the little stick figure family stickers. Any man who lets their wife put that on their car keeps his balls in his wife's purse.

LOL. So true. The OBX thing has just only recently gotten really, REALLY obnoxious to me. I'm like, YES, it's a beach, but jeezus, they act like it's literally where heaven is.

Back in the 90's when the tourist started taking over the Nags Head area the locals used the OBX stickers to tell them apart from the tourist. Now the tourist have taken that over "OBX sticker" and you don't see the locals riding around with those stickers anymore. The funny part is that people who own property down there still want people to know they are "a local" so they still sport those stickers. The locals now suport tourism allot more because they realize it means big$$$$.
