Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
I would also like to point out if the Skins don't get CJ or Boldin then don't be surprised to see the Redskins first two picks to look like so
1st - Jordy Nelson - WR - Kansas State 2nd - Calias Campbell - DE - Miami 3rd - Jeramy Zutah - T/G/C - Rutgers 3rd Comp - Zach Bowman Ironically Todd McShay has both Campbell and Phillips falling to our spot in the 2nd.

I agree. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's the rumor. More likely is the Falcons wanting to trade up into the late first and jump past Miami. Especially since they've apparently already decided they are not taking a QB with the 3rd overall spot.

Final Mock Draft
All right, after months of useless preperation I have compiled my final Mock Draft.
1st - Phillip Merling - DE/DT - Clemson - The Redskins entourage was in full force for Merling's on campus workout, a site that was all to familiar to former 1st round pick Jason Campbell. Merling has everything the team is looking for in a D-lineman and would be an excellent compliment to Andre Carter. Phillip Merling Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect DL Phillip Merling College Highlights from Clemson - Mar. 6, 2008 2nd - Jordy Nelson - WR - Kansas State - The Redskins have shown a lot of interest in Nelson lately and with the 49ers being the only real threat to take Nelson in the 2nd, look for the team to end the madness among Redskin fans and make everyone forget that Anthony Mix ever existed. Don't be surprised if the team takes their 2nd and 3rd round picks to move up into the second in an attempt to draft Jordy. Of course now that I think about it the Eagles could be a threat to take Jordy as well. I would expect the team to trade up to the Jets spot in the second round. Jordy Nelson Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect YouTube - Inside K-State Sports - Jordy Nelson Highlight Video 3rd - Tony Hills - T/G - Texas - The Redskins get Derrick Dockery 2.0. Except this time he's more athletic. Unfortunately he comes with injury concerns but he's quick enough to pull and get out into the open field on screens. He can also play LT if duty calls. Of course this pick could just as easily be Roy Schuening or Jeramy Zutah should either of them fall. If the team tries to trade up in an effort to ensure that they get Jordy Nelson then look for Hills to be selected with the teams comp pick. Tony Hills Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect OL Tony Hills College Highlights from Texas - Mar. 10, 2008 3rd Comp - Owen Schmitt - FB - West Virginia - Man crushes run amuck and though I admit this pick is a reach I still believe the team will view Schmitt as the best player available. At the very least we'll get a special teams demon and at the best we'll get a guy who could easily become the best FB in the league. Owen Schmitt Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect YouTube - Tribute to Owen Schmitt 5th - Zach Bowman - CB - The Redskins go for another talented player with injury concerns. Bowman has the size and speed teams look for in a CB and at one point scouts considered him a possible first round pick, but injuries put an end to Bowman's 1st round aspirations. Regardless he seems to have retained his speed, clocking in at 4.38 during the combine. Zack Bowman Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect 6th - Kevin O'Connell - QB - San Diego State - The Redskins get a talented developmental prospect with a good arm and the type of mobility that scouts look for in a west coast QB. Kevin O'Connell Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect YouTube - Kevin O'Connell - Hula Bowl 08 7th - Alvin Bowen - OLB - Iowa State - The Redskins add depth at OLB with Bowen. Bowen was one of the most productive college LB's the last two years. However if Corey Lynch somehow falls this far then look for the team to turn in their card ASAP. Alvin Bowen Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect LB Alvin Bowen College Highlights from Iowa State - Mar. 28, 2008 7th Comp - Andrew Crummy - C/G - Maryland - The Redskins get a quality local prospect that can play Center. Andrew Crummey Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect 7th Comp - Marcus Dixon - DT/DE - Hampton - The Redskins find another local product to help out along the D-line. Marcus Dixon Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
The more film I see on him the more I like him and that is Calais Campbell, I would try and swap picks with san fran in the first rd for their second rd pick, I think there is a good chance that Campbell will still be avail. with the 29th pick in the first. I would then look to draft Jordy Nelson with that pick, and with our #2 I would hope that Chris Johnson of E.Carolina is still there, in the third rd I would do what I have to to secure OT Carl Nicks out of Nebraska, and with our comp third I would grab Frank Okam out of Texas he has tremendous upside for a late third rd pick. I think that would be a great draft for us.

Re: Final Mock Draft
Yeah I'm not surprised that he went through that whole ordeal. Even though everyone in Georgia isn't racist, theres still a disturbing amount of people that are quick to judge other people based on their race. So after hearing about the father of the girl involved it's no wonder the kid ended up in a "To Kill a Mockingbird" type situation.

2nd - If Nelson is there, Agreed, but I don't think we reach for him. If he's gone Godfrey, CB Iowa will be the pick 3rd - Hills is too much of a reach. Whoever falls to this spot will be taken, in order: C. Rachal, G, USC, P. Sims, DT, Auburn (raw but has the tools and Blache will coach 'em up), Schuening, G, Or. St. 3rd - Comp Pick - No man-crushed FB here (LOL). E. Henderson, OLB, MD (plays SLB to back-up/replace Washington) or Nicks, T, Neb 5th - WR if we don't have Jordy. QB if we do. You're way more thorough than me on the late rounds, but I do like Dixon from Hampton as a project. I read the article today and the kid is definitely mentally tough after all he's been through. P.S. I'll NEVER forget Mix....He's the next Randy Moss, just bigger...but not as fast....not as good hands....hasn't produced at WR.......wait, who were we talking about?

I do agree with EJ on the comp pick. If he falls there then I think the team will take him. Or even if he falls to 3-21 and the team ends up not liking the O-Line prospects left at that point then EJ could very well be the pick, as I'm starting to think our defense is slightly more LB orriented. I do have a feeling that the team might trade up with the Jets again to grab Jordy, as Jordy seems to have made a favorable impression on the guys in Ashburn, in which case the Jets would recieve our 2-20 and our 3-21 but I've been wrong before. Then again they could also be shooting for Kelly but I'm hoping that the Cowboys draft that headache with their second 1st round pick. However I believe that if Jordy falls to 51 and Merling is picked by the Skins at 21 then theres a 90% chance of Jordy Nelson being the pick. The teams I worry about in front of us are the 49ers, Eagles, Saints, Cardinals, and the.....Lions. As the 49ers will take BPA in the 1st round, Eagles won't draft a 1st round reciever, Saints are somehow still looking for another reciever after missing on Meachem last year, and the Cardinals are looking to possibly replace Johnson. And of course the Bengals are also looking for a Reciever but then again they might draft Rashard Mendenhall with their first round pick, which will pretty much force them to draft defense in the 2nd round. If Jordy is there at 51, you're 100% right, he's the guy. With the Lions in front of us he won't be there, they always draft WR (LOL). I like Jordy a lot, but I don't want to give up a third to get him. We can draft a WR later and we still have June 1 cuts and next year's picks to play with to go after a WR before camp if necessary. And don't forget we have Mix :cheeky-sm
