Plays like Aaron Rodgers, looks like Brad Johnson.

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

not a whole lot of airing it out but i think this was more a test of can he execute the offense and keep it moving and he definitely proved that. I was impressed by his mobility, dude's got some wheels which opened up some underneath stuff late in the second half

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

I'm behind in watching the game right now, currently in the second quarter. Beck seems erratic to me, almost like a bystander in the plays. He seems to be able to find the passing windows because it never seems like he's going to get it over the line. His receivers seem to be helping him out a lot by being incredibly sure-handed.

I can't tell what John Beck is doing well enough so that he's moving the ball with so much ease. That doesn't mean he's not doing anything well, I just can't seem to explain why he's successful. But I'll take it.

He makes a really good throw to Austin against Powers, one of the better CBs in football, in blanket coverage.

I think Beck sees the field better out of the gun. If so, that's not surprising.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but for game three (the big preseason game) who gets the start? Beck or Grossman? Either way, you'd have to assume the Raven's D will be a good test.

Was wondering the same thing. There is a lot you can learn about a guy against that D. Do you give Beck the start knowing what you have in Grossman? To me this is the right move. Give beck the ball and see what happens. They have game tape of Rex, they need some on Beck if they are going to make the right decision on who starts vs NY on 9/11.

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

I think wwe have two guys who can play QB. Maybe neither is a top 10 QB but with a healthy cast of offensive weapons and a decent line either one can probably be a middle of the pack guy and not lose games. I'm not sure DMc last year bought into the scheme enough to do that. Not that he doesn't have the talent but I don't think he was willing to do things a different way.

We have not had any of that for awhile and I am not sure we do now. We may, but I don' t think we can say that yet.

Trust me I want to believe we do.

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

Beck is noticeably slower in his progressions than Grossman is, but I feel like he sees a larger amount of the field than Rex. He's never too surprised by a linebacker lurking in the area.

I am glad John looks sharp, but damnit, I have to ditch my Gus Frerotte jerseys if he does start at #12.

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

I think Beck can solidify the starting position by having a solid outing against the Ravens. I hope the o-line can protect him as good as they protected Rex against the Steelers. In the end, I am glad that both QBs seem to be doing well against pretty good 1st team defenses in these preseason games. I just hope one of these guys can solidify the starting position soon.

Re: Redskins-Colts Gameday Thread.

John Beck looked sharp tonight, was cautious and didn't take but one shot down field. He knew when pressure was coming, and knew when to get rid of the ball.
- Hightower looked great (glad we got him before Ryan Williams got hurt).
- I'm kind of pissed that Royster didn't even see the field tonight.
- Helu looked good; loved the sideline run.
- Hankerson had his "God Damnit Leonard" Drop, but then went on to catch more balls. I was hoping that he'd be our best or one of our best rookies, but right now he's close to our worst rookie; I'd cut him, but I understand not giving up on a 3rd rounder.
- Kerrigan got his sack, good for him.
- Didn't understand Lichtenstreiger not starting.
- Will Montgomery looked decent, got pushed around a little, but looked good.
- Brandon Thompson, nice pick! Still won't make the team though!
- Carriker not playing?
- Terrence Austin looking like a poor mans DeSean Jackson.
- ^ may be the reason Brandon Banks doesn't make the team.
- Defense looking more ahead of the offense.
- Trent Williams got a welcome back to the NFL by Dwight Freeney.
- Looking forward to Baltimore on Thursday
