it's that simple

Moss isn't our best WR, and we are paying them to block also. They all need to perform better.

I don't know about that. Landry seemed to play well when he played with Sean Taylor, we all believed that the duo will be one of the greatest in NFL history. When Taylor passed away, Landry had big shoes to fill in and he tried too hard. Gibbs could not have predicted that, if the tragedy did not happen, we would be praising Gibbs for drafting the safeties today. Only if Taylor was alive today, with the front 7 we have - it would be awesome defense

Btw why are we talking about the past when this is Falcons game thread?

Yep, nobody talking bout him either. He had a couple monster blocks on the edge yesterday.

Seriously need to work out an extension

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

The Redskins are dead last in 3rd down conversion percentage (23.3%). In the Falcons game, we went a despicable 1-9 on third downs, our yearly total so far is 14-60. While we have holes in the defense and our kicker sucks, very few teams are going to win any games with such an atrocious 3rd down percentage. This crappy conversion percentage is the reason why the Saints and Bucs almost came back on us, it allowed the Rams to beat us, and it didn't help us keep up with the Bengals and the Falcons.

I don't know what the hell Kyle has can do, but we can't have any more situations where we don't convert on 3rd and short in the opponent's side of the field. I know the defense is wildly inconsistent, but we missed out on at least three quarters of our defense keeping a top offense at bay on Sunday.

Noticed a couple drops on third down and couple passes behind the receiver as well. This will improve by sheer probability.

I did. He had a horrible punt but overall he's a good punter. Not someone I would even think about replacing.

But regardless, from that point on it's a simple "you're fired" all the way down the line with the possible exception of Morris...the only coach on the roster to coach a winning team so far this decade.

I'd take either coordinator from Cinci. I'd take either from San Fran. I'd even take Gregg Williams and Al Saunders back.
You know I'm probably too far on the stay the course side of things.

I just don't think we could attract any proven talent here. If I'm a top gm candidate would I really want to go somewhere that has a huge cap hit and no first round picks for the next couple years.

And I I'm a coach like gruden, cowher, or another top name do I go some place where MS, a potential HOF candidate, just failed.

The type of people we would attract would be the guys that can't get a shot elsewhere. We could wind up with the next mike tomlin, but it would be a longshot.

I agree we're unlikely to attract another legacy GM or coach right away, and am fine with it. However, I wouldn't be opposed to Bruce Allen remaining the GM for another couple years.

I can't stop wondering if Jeff Fisher would have come to DC? It's very impressive what he's doing with the Rams. By next season St. Louis will be another 1 to 2 year turnaround story.

Our play calling and execution of said play calling on third down is my goat of the year much less the week. We suck on 3rd down, period. Until that gets fixed, even though we have been in every game, we will continue floating around .500%.

That was an excellent read in coverage by Ryan Kerrigan. He got the pick six be reading Matt Ryan's eyes and seeing the screen pass trying to develop. He put his hands up and BOOM, he knocks the ball in the air and picks it off and runs the other way for a Redskins touchdown.

Encouraging guys to play after the whistle. Of course it also helps that that is a proven formula for success, based off his many, many championships with the Oilers/Titans.
