First, I'm still waiting for a move in the safety position, and I'm disappointed we weren't able to get Byrd, or perhaps Mitchell. I agree the numbers didn't seem too high for Mitchell. But to be clear, we did draft two young safeties last year. There's a remote chance Rambo gets better (?), and PThomas may come back healthy. We still have possibilities with Merriweather / Doughty again and perhaps d.Hall in the future. They are all sub-par with question marks but we do have some options. By strengthening a pass rush, improving the LB core, and getting another good CB, we could still get by. Finally, we could luck out on an old veteran that's dropped over the next few months after the draft and preseason to get us by for one more year... |

So Hatcher has visits with the Raiders and Seahawks. Doubt we end up with him.
With what Denver has done do you even sign with another team in the AFCWest for anything but the money?

We havent improved yet..
I like that were being conservative. but im just not understanding why we havent inked an IMPACT player yet. Say what you wanna but im into winning.. you know.. having a higher score than the opponent. We havent done anything these first two days in my eyes its the same team with an improvement to special teams. Luavo & campbell are benchwarmers they cant protect griff.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I think this may be the plan: The Skins are targeting specific young players who are affordable. If they can't sign them, then they will fill the needs temporarily with proven veterans who can give them a year or two. Draft players for the positions that are not filled by young FA's.
I've changed my mind about Ryan Clark. I hope he signs with us. He is a good veteran who can only help us for a while. He will mentor our young safties. If the Skins hadn't seen something they like about Lauvau and thought that he would be a good fit, then they wouldn't have signed him to a 4-year contract on the first day of FA. I'm keeping an open mind about him. Anthony Spencer's microfracture surgery concerns me. Is Antonio Smith out of the picture? Hatcher left Seattle without a deal. He'll be in Oakland today. The Raiders have tons of cap space but they continue to look like hell as an organization. There may be a chance that Hatcher visits us, after all, either because of the Saffold debacle or because he is determined to make all three visits. I would prefer Hatcher to Spencer due to my concerns about Spencer's health. I think that any one of A. Smith, Spencer, or Hatcher would improve our defense. I'd actually like to have two of them. I'm thinking that ILB can wait until the draft. We have Riley, Keenan, and Hayward. We can re-sign Barnett and draft Borland or Skov.

So PFT confirms that we are trying to trade for Sproles. I think he would make a great addition, but I just can't see giving up more than a 6th or 7th for him. According to Schefty, NO thinks they should get a 3rd or 4th. That would piss me off.

I like how we are looking for value. Forget the big name splashes. Some will turn out glood and some will not.

They are not getting a 3rd or 4th from anybody. It is simply a negotiating tactic. They're probably being offered a 6th or 7th, so they think they might be able to get a 5th.

No picks for Sproles.
They can have Royster and Biggers for him.
