Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
This thread is pretty funny.
Some scorching hot takes. Overall, I think they did fine. We'll know in 3 years.

I don't think they'll trade Allen. Payne/Newton/Allen is going to be real tough to deal with on a rotation. |

More likely they're looking at Newton as replacing Allen next year. But if they don't trade immediately and Newton shows starting level talent in camp, do they look to leverage Allen early? |

Our interior offensive lineman are going to improve just by playing our DT’s in camp and practice everyday. It will good for them.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
We got some great college players with a lot of potential. While the OL situation scares me I like they players they picked after watching the highlights of each. Definitely a lot of potential. Reels are reels, I get it, but back when they drafted chase @ #2 I found myself less impress with his "best film package" than I was with some if these players.
Kool aid us getting stronger as the off season progresses lmao.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
people paid to cover football seems to be praising WFT, hopefully it translates to the field.
TE is like cooley, but faster/jumps higher/blocks he played real h-back (only 20 years late for gibbs 2.0). he didn't have the crazy 1,200 yard college season though, but he was playing better competition. I'd be shocked if he wasn't playing significant time pretty early in the season (partially because the other TEs here are old guy ertz and nothing else). as far as the DT, payne is here 2-3 more years and allen 2 more years on their current contracts. JN is here 4 years. So if the team can't/doesn't want to sign both (or wants to work a trade) they at least have a cheaper option (assuming he can play). Peters did ask DQ if it'd be a problem getting them all playing time and he said no, so the plan is to use them all in some kind of rotation. They did take an OT... I'd be a bit surprised if he's starting week 1, but his competition is awful :/. I would still be looking for a move at OT if something looks like it's available. Now it's time to see if the coaches can turn this jumble of players into a team that's significantly better than last year's garbage fire. |

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
I wonder if they’re going to switch Cosmi and Wylie. Wylie scares me at OT and while Cosmi was a stud at G, the OT situation is sufficiently scary that they’ll need to do something.
As for the draft, I don’t think anyone can know for a few years so all these post-draft grades seems a little silly to me. But I still like that we are getting decent reviews - been a while since that has happened. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
Like everyone else I was a bit disappointed that they were not able to find a legit OT in a draft that was deep at OT. I do not believe Coleman will play at tackle. But this OL did improve already and is not as bad as so many believe. The change at center can not be understated, it's a key position regarding pass pro and they went from bad to really good there. They also went from terrible to OK at LG, even better if Coleman pans out there. Howell also made the OL look far worse than it actually was, we saw what a difference Brissett made when he played.
When they went DT at 36 I was happy to see they were really drafting BPA and this is a really good prospect. Ron would have absolutely reached for a tackle and ended up with another JAG. Sainristil is the most intriguing pick to me. He is a player no doubt and will be a fan favorite. But boy at that size you better have Darrell Green speed and he does not. I didn't see a lot of tape on Sinnott and people seem to rate this pick highly. But from what I saw I didn't see the athlete his combine numbers suggest, I didn't see quick change of direction when he runs patterns and I question if he can get open in the NFL But clearly those in charge no more than I do so I'll trust their judgement as this was clearly a big need. |

These last 4 posts are solid and demonstrate that sanity and reason are returning to the fan base.
The trackers giving out grades are so much BS and can drive you crazy. What I especially trust in our new management is that they are finding good kids who punch above their stat sheets Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This can be discussed elsewhere, but Rivera, Mayhew, Hurney drafted a lot of misses, especially in the 1st round. (Young, Davis, Forbes, & then trading up for a LS Cheeseman.) |

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread
We all know that we can look back 4 years and laugh at the grades teams receive right after the draft. That's what makes this so fun, like everything else in sports we really do not know what will happen.
But getting such grades across the board is certainly not a bad thing. And I think we can all agree they have really good decision makers picking the players. So even if all these picks we like don't pan out the future here is very very bright IMO. |
