Just got the salary info for Haynesworth and Dockery.

I still have Haynesworth at $7.9M but Dockery is now at $4.1M.

i thought they would be fine between jansen and heyer at rt. it would be nice to add a decent lb on the outside. i don't know why they cut frost last year.

They cut him for the same reason he was cut by Green Bay later on. He sucks.

It seemed reasonable to me, but i just had to mention it as a possibility. Considering the number of needs we have, it doesnt make sense for us to just be sitting on our butts and not doing anything to improve our team with that money now, especially considering we only have 2 draft picks that have a realistic possiblity to produce key contributors in 2009. There are still quite a few quality players out there - why arent we doing anything with the cap space?

I havent read anything that indicated the Redskins ever really gave serious consideration to re-signing Evans.

There are plenty of players on the market right now worth looking at, especially at LB... just not guys worth spending serious money on. Like GT said, its possible we just are being sneaky about it.

Washington Redskins News - How To Circumvent Cap Hell - 2009-03-05

With the free agency talent drying up as the days go by, the Washington Redskins need to address holes not yet filled. The Washington Times is reporting that the Washington Redskins have “limited flexibility” to address these needs. This is another head scratcher because almost a week after the Post said they wouldn’t be players in the 2009 free agency market, they signed a Pro Bowl defensive tackle in Albert Haynesworth, re-signed cornerback DeAngelo Hall, brought back former starting guard Derrick Dockery and signed punter Dirk Johnson.

They are currently courting free agent offensive tackles Ray Willis and Elton Brown, still talking to guard Pete Kendall about resigning, and expected to resign defensive end Phillip Daniels and maybe linebacker/special teams ace Khary Campbell. They may not get Ray Willis and Elton Brown, but not counting Dirk Johnson, the Washington Redskins are more than $11 million under the 2009 salary cap on March 5th and are anything but limited in what the can do between now and the 2009 NFL Draft.
